RAW is live tonight from Cincinnati, and it's going to be a tough night, as not only does it go against the Saints/Falcons game on Monday Night Football, but it will also go head to head with the first big debate in the US Presidential Race (please no comments about that on this thread). Still, it's the fallout from Clash of Champions, as we now head on the five week road to Hell in a Cell in Boston.
Kevin Owens is still the WWE Universal Champion, thanks to his "best bud" Chris Jericho, and a curious decision by Stephanie McMahon as when to send in a second referee. With the original referee down, Seth Rollins had gained an advantage, but no new referee was called for. After Jericho got involved, and with Owens on top, only then did Stephanie call for the new referee, allowing Owens to hit the Pop Up Powerbomb to retain his title. And to make things even more screwed up for Rollins, a WWE.com exclusive showed Stephanie and Triple H together by their limo, implying that she WAS in on HHH's decision to screw over Rollins and anoint Owens as the new chosen one. Rollins has long suspected it, but that isn't a good luck for RAW GM Mick Foley, who trusted Stephanie on her word that she knew nothing about it. What developments will take place tonight?
Roman Reigns is the new WWE United States Champion, defeating Rusev last night to claim the title. A few weeks back, Rusev failed to defend the honour of his wife Lana against Reigns, and now he's lost his title to him. Will Rusev come back to attempt revenge, or will Reigns move on to defend against other contenders?
The Best of Seven Series may well require an eighth match. Officials had to call a stop to the Cesaro vs. Sheamus contest as both were deemed unable to continue, despite Cesaro's protests. Mick Foley promised the winner of the series a "championship opportunity", which reads super vaguely, so will he agree to an eighth match, or will he decide that both are as good as each other, and put them together as a tag team?
TJ Perkins made the first successful defence of his WWE Cruiserweight Title, defeating Brian Kendrick at Clash of Champions - but after the match, Kendrick headbutted Perkins, putting an end to their decade-plus relationship that has encompassed the majority of their careers. Perkins will be playing a dangerous game chasing a man he's just beaten - could Kendrick have perfectly played TJP? And will we see any of the other Cruiserweight Division stars tonight?
The New Day have reached their 400th day as WWE RAW Tag Team Champions, defeating Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows to hold onto the belts, although it took intervention from Xavier Woods and Francesca II for that to happen. The official website preview claims that The New Day will now move on to new challengers after this, but the use of the trombone surely gives Anderson and Gallows an out to make another challenge.
Charlotte is still the RAW Women's Champion, getting past both Bayley and Sasha Banks by pinning Bayley, thanks partly to Charlotte's put-upon apprentice Dana Brooke. Things don't look good at the moment for Bayley, having suffered two straight defeats to Charlotte, but Banks wasn't pinned, so she's still on the chase. As Hell in a Cell is in Boston on October 30th, that would be the perfect place for The Boss to make her next challenge, but what's next for Bayley?
