I finally just watched it a couple weeks ago. I really don't get the hate. I enjoyed it much more than Luke Cage.

I finally just watched it a couple weeks ago. I really don't get the hate. I enjoyed it much more than Luke Cage. Almost all the hate for it comes from the premise of a white guy learning Martial Arts. Never mind that he's always been white in the comics and there have been others of different cultures that were given the title of it.

Never mind that he's always been white in the comics and there have been others of different cultures that were given the title of it. I would've said most of the hate comes from the show being painfully slow and plodding. Far too much time is spent on the boardroom wranglings at Rand Corp. and Danny trying to prove his identity. You could've compressed the first five episodes down into an episode and a half and not missed anything.

No, the hate doesn't have much to do with it being a white guy.
I've been a fan of the character since I was a kid.
The show was boring.

Hopefully it's an actual martial arts story this time around and not more corrupt corporate intrigue starring a guy with a glowy fist.

I hope the Hand are gone.
They're so painfully boring.

I hope the Hand are gone. They're so painfully boring. While I hope the Hand in general are gone, there's still too much left unresolved with Gao, so I hope she does make an appearance.

I hope the Hand are gone. They're so painfully boring. While it's no Hydra, The Hand in the comics is one of my favorite factions when it came to be one of the more mysterious factions in the Marvel Comic Book Universe. There was also a lot of promise for them in the MCU after the 'All Hail the King' short showed they were a lot more nefarious than led on: ...then in Iron Fist S1, they turned the bulk of the Hand into the freaking Foot Clan from Ninja Turtles, complete with brainwashing kid recruitment center. Ironic since the Foot were originally an omage to the Hand (if the name wasn't obvious enough), but they got overused and underpowered beyond all belief (the Defenders treated them like the MotW for crying out loud!).

I didn't hate season 1 all that much. It was pretty slow moving and didn't have a ton of great action to it, but I was baffled at the violently negative reviews. I don't even get the weird ultra PC desire to put an Asian guy in the role, since the whole point of the character is that he's a rich white kid lost in Tibet or wherever. Or were these people wanting to just scrap Danny Rand as a character entirely? Power Man and Iron Fist was a relic of the 70s anyway, but in the case of Luke Cage more easily brought into the 2010s.
I did like Finn Jones in his episode of Luke Cage this year though, so maybe this will be better than season 1.

The Defenders and Luke Cage have done a really good job of rehabbing Danny's character and making him more enjoyable/fun. S2 of his show should be great

Okay, so the Iron Fist hood has now fallen into the same category as Shatterstar's gladiator face-thing to me... looks fine in the comics, doesn't really work in real life.

I figure this will be handled the same way as Luke Cage did - show it in flashback for the fan service, ignore it for the rest of the time.

I don't mind them ditching the mask, but he does need a proper crime fighting outfit. For the street level heroes an outfit only really makes sense for Murdock, as he's the only one trying to hide his identity and is physically the most vulnerable. Luke uses his reputation to his advantage and is bulletproof, Danny really only fights those who already know who he is and has a stronger chi-based healing factor than Murdock, and both Jessica and Frank just plain don't give a shit.
