And Riley Smith gets Vegas' second goal.
But with only 7:34 left, they're on borrowed time down by 2.

Yep……..Vegas needs to get some extra hard drills in practice and Ryan Reeves has been kicked out of the game.
Another 5 on 3 power play to end the game

As a Rangers fan I can’t wait for the draft.
The only reporter I really trust for them is Larry Brooks and in his article today he only said for them to be really aggressive about trades at the draft and Lundqvist is quoted saying he basically has no idea what the team is going to look like. Brooks tweeted (or wrote an article or something like that, I think right after the deadline) that it’s basically going to set records for the amount of moves they want to make at the draft.
Just within the last couple weeks I started reading articles and listening to podcasts (bluenationstation, blueshirtbanter, basically all of them) and here’s what they’re saying is being rumoured (don’t really know any of these guys, they seemed decent but Ill take it with a grain of salt):
Zucc to Edmonton for the 10th overall pick (this I could see, would save something like 4.5 million)
Zibinajad and the 26th or 28th overall to Carolina for the 2nd overall (would be happy, would save 5 million on an injury prone player)
Staal apparently has told others he would waive his NTM to go to Ottawa. It would be Staal and either the 26th or 28th overall for Bobby Ryan and the 4th overall. Ottawa might need another D if they lose Karlsson, Staal is closer to home, bad contract for bad contract, but Ottawa apparently wants to get rid of Ryan in the worst way, and this would save them something like 1.5 million per year over the next three years and they’re off the hook for the fourth year after that. Then they were saying that NY would then flip Ryan to either SJ, LV, or LA for a first round pick but eat half his salary. This apparently is about the same financially as buying Staal out which is a real possibilty.
So overall it looks like they might drop Zib, Zucc, Staal, and lower draft picks to move up and get an additional two first rounders this year bringing it to FIVE first rounders. I would be really happy with that although it would suck to lose Zucc but you can’t make moves like that without giving a lot up.
Five first rounders is supposed to be the selling point to Tavares to get him here. That, and if they tank next year, they could have a lottery shot at Jack Hughes who is already supposedly better than Kane, Matthews, and Eichel at the same age.
Can’t wait to see what they do!

Oh and I also forgot. Hayes. Namestnikov, Spooner, and Veysey all could be traded too as they’re all restricted free agents. Sounds like the only guarantee for the RFA resigning is Skjei.

The idea of 70K Caps fans watching in the arena and outside the arena could all be disappointed tonight scares the shit out of me lol. I've heard people call into local sports radio shows saying the Caps should lose tonight so they can win it at home. WTF!? The last 3 cups the Pens won were all on the road.

Yeah, you don't take any chances with hockey even with a 3-1 series lead. Especially when it's a team with a legacy of choking at critical moments like the Caps. You don't want to give up a game just to win the Cup at home. Caps need to put their foot on Vegas' throat because it'd be very easy for them to come back if they give them the opening.

Given the Caps road success this spring and that they've closed out 3 series away, I think they know they don't want to take that chance.

The Rangers are definitely in "blow it all up" mode, which can be a fun time. Everybody loves prospects. But those deals are pipe dreams. Carolina would be insane to trade Svechnikov for a guy who is more a 2C and a late 1st. Zucc is in the last year of his contract, so without an extension he isn't worth a top 10 pick and even then Edmonton has Yamamoto who is in the same vein only much younger and faster. Plus, if they scrap the Drai to C idea altogether, they're loaded as can be at RW. Ottawa's prospect cupboard is pretty dry, I can't see them moving 4 for a cap dump. Hopefully the Rangers can move Zibanejad and Zuccarello for mid-late first round picks repectively because that would accelerate the rebuild tremendously. They've got Chytil who they're super high on, and Andersson who I think will be a stud. I'd go Farabee at 9 who has great skill and I doubt ends up at C, especially on a Rangers squad. And then fill out D with the later picks.
