Dammit PC you couldn't get Boyle by giving up Lander and a conditional pick?

Damn these past few days is looking like Trade Deadline. Burrows to Ottawa and signing an extension and J. Benn to Montreal.

Rumors are going around saying that a deal is in the works to send Shattenkirk to the Capitals. Deal is done, but it includes a 2018 second rounder, which doesn't make sense because the Caps dealt theirs to the Habs as part of the Eller deal.

So a 1st round pick in 2017, 2nd round in 2018, and Zack Sanford for Shattenkirk. Minnesota gave up more to get Martin Hanzal lol.

It's basicly what I hope at this point to get for him, the First round draft pick mainly. Had he agree on a contract with one of the other teams during the off season the Blues would have gotten more in return. At this point we got at less something for him. The first round draft pick next year is the main one.

Apparently he refused every trade request because they either wanted to extend him or he didn't want to play on that team that the two only opitions were the Caps and Pens. I get the guy really wants to do everything on his own terms and set his own price in free agency and he'll probably sign with one of the MSG teams or Boston but thank f*** he's traded. I've been sick to death hearing about him for the past year in a half. But I imagine you're happy to be free hearing about trade rumours and how he wants to play in NYC and how he loves NY for the past two years. Also to answer Shulk the Caps will still have to play against Columbus/NYC/Pittsburgh in the second round. Like three out of the top 6 teams. Kind of like how last year the second round of Penguins and Caps felt like the true Cup Finals on whoever wins the series will probably win the cup.

Yeah I liked him as a player but I was getting tired of the trade talks just as much. I am glad it's over and I think they got the best they could get at this point and at less it not he stays and walks this off season and the Blues has nothing. I would loved the trade to happen in the off season before the season and gotten Hall. At less we got something and hopefully they draft a great player with this first rounder pick. I wish Armstrong would go at the end because the guys he filled that cap space so we couldn't resign Shattenkirk in the first place or Backes during the off season was terrible. I mean guys like Lehtra who done nothing but take up space on the ice.

Total half-assed, wasted season. Instead of trading Shatty in the off-season (even not extended) we thought maybe we could contend and kept him so long that we painted ourselves into a corner and got the least possible return. Same with the Hitch/Yeo/Shaw debacle. Plz fire Armstrong immediately.

Same with the Hitch/Yeo/Shaw debacle. Plz fire Armstrong immediately. I agree. They should have went Yeo from day one this year sense it was clear that was the direction for the future. Hitch staying and having two coaches telling players two different things screw the way they played up. Yeo at less they team plays more balanced hockey but still need to be consistent. We know the reasons as we both make it clear over the season why the team is in this situation with the horrible contracts signing for underachieving players. 30 Million of the payroll a couple months ago was talked about on local sports radio where on players not playing to there contract. That is far to much. How much has that changed now? A little. Allen IS playing better and himself is playing more consistent. The Defense in helping him isn't. Guys like Lehtera still playing as doing nothing close to what they are paying him for. The trade itself was what I expected at this point. Should we had some kind of off season deal? Yes in the way as you said. What we did get isn't that bad given the situation, at less he not going to walk and we have nothing. We did get a first round pick. Sanford can become something from what did read about him, Oshie thinks high about him. The second draft pick is interesting one and kind of confusing because right now it saying 2019 second round but all these other things based on how the Capitals play. Not sure if I liked the Copley being traded in this. Being he was the favorite on being the guy that Vegas was going to take from us. So that may mean Reeves the other name I saw is more likely. Even if they didn't draft him I kind wish we still had him because he showed sparks of talent but he was blown out but that was when the team as a whole was playing bad. I kind of thought if he was still here, he can get more time and be great in Hutton's role 2018 and on after Hutton's deal is up in the sense if they don't resign Carter at that point. 2017 and more so 2018 I think is the best chances at the Cup if Armstrong goes.

I've seen this movie, Caps overwhelming favorites to win it all, but they can't make it past the second round. We'll see how this goes.

I'll say this but it took Yzerman 14 seasons to win his first cup and he was labelled as a choker that he nearly got traded to Ottawa for Yashin before the 96-97 season until Mr. Little Caesar stopped vetoed the trade. I could see a similar thing with The Capitals.

To be fair Shattenkirk is the biggest free agent this upcoming offseason and he's playing against the team that'll probably sign him. St. Louis has 4 former oilers and Paajarvi on the top line and Yak is scratched? Damn

Canadiens acquire defenseman Brandon Davidson from the Edmonton Oilers, in return for forward David Desharnais.

Damn I still maintain Edmonton should have traded that top pick in the Yakupov draft year for an established defenceman.

I don't know if its because he healthy scratches more time than not and hard for a player to gain momentum and get into a grove.

Mikael Granlund is now finally getting to use his full potential. 1+2 in the first period against Jets, featuring a backhanded assist while on his knees while getting punched in the head by Byfuglien. That's 21+38 now this season, enough for a top 10 spot in total points.

Damn I still maintain Edmonton should have traded that top pick in the Yakupov draft year for an established defenceman. The Oilers wanted to draft Ryan Murray but Katz vetoed it last second. Granted Murray hasn't been that much better and may have been Jultzed considering he's still finding his game and been injury proved. I made a post earlier today about Illitch vetoed trading Yzerman. Quite a contrast of one of the greatest owners of all time vs. Katz one of the worst of all time. Also Deadline day is going to be boring. Oilers traded Davidson to Montreal for Descharnies. Montreal is going to love Davidson like they love Petry and this is a great rental trade for Edmontons playoff push since we need a 3C since they love putting Drai on McDavids wing for good reason. But yeah this is a prime example of the effect on The Expansion Draft. Like it was pretty much confirmed Edmonton wouldn't be protecting Davidson in the expansion draft so better get something than nothing. I wonder if Montreal will protect him
