The whole episode was as awesome as I expected it to be but that segment with the snakes just appearing seemingly from out of nowhere was something else. Also, cock-teasing sloths!

Can't wait to see this. The BBC are unmatched in my opinion for making quality nature documentaries.

As outstanding as you'd expect; as others have mentioned, the racer snakes chasing the iguanas was something else. However, those poor, suffering penguins...
An absolute joy from start to finish, and still five episodes to go.

Incredible, what a brilliant 60 minutes of television.
The part with the snakes hunting the iguanas was both hilarious and terrifying, easily the best part.

Just waiting for someone to put Adagio for Strings over the scene with the bloodied penguin.

It's going to be shown on BBC America from January 28th. If however you can't wait and have the means to play DVDs/Blu-rays from different regions, then it's out on DVD here on December 5th.

Outstanding TV once again - highlights being the racer snakes vs baby iguana, komodo dragon fight, lemurs & the penguins of volcano island.

It's even more satisfying that the BBC scheduled this directly against Simon Cowell's bullshit.

It's even more satisfying that the BBC scheduled this directly against Simon Cowell's bullshit. And destroyed it in the ratings. 9 million compared to 6.5 million for X Factor.

Amazing stuff all round, but I've got to give the snakes and baby iguanas the prize for best bit. Am I the only one thinking that those albatross were weird looking things? While checking that it was an albatross and not some other bird, I stumbled across the soundtrack ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_Earth_II#Soundtrack) and going by some of the song titles listed, there's some interesting stuff coming up.

The show was full of awesome moments.
I felt sorry for that poor sloth. He just wanted to get his rocks off but couldn't find the female. I also love the loyalty of the bird waiting for his mate to return. I was glad she eventually did. I hope the crabs win their war with the ants. I hate ants. The bastards.
Remind me never to visit Komodo Island.
.....
The soundtrack deserves attention too. It's performed by Hans Zimmer, so it's as awesome as you'd expect it to be.

So...........Power Girl boob window sighting: yes? no? Power Girl was killed by Crazy Ants (who, amazingly, are actually a real thing).

Shit news Australians. Channel 9 will be screening this series next year. So prepare for beautiful shots of nature being plastered with promos for The Block and whatever music reality show they have. Oh and commercial breaks too.
So I would like to advise those in Australia.. Don't watch it on 9. Don't record it, don't even use their catch up service. Wait for DVD or Blu-Ray .. or for it to be added to Netflix or Stan if you have them.
Commercial TV networks should keep their hands off these great documentary series.

Apparently, people complained about last week's episode that showed two male snow leopards fighting over a female. Why? When the victor had his way with her, they felt it promoted rape.
Now, I'm not making light of such a horrific thing to happen to a person, but these are animals and it's all part of the circle of life, right? People will complain about anything...bunch of handwringing, pearl clutching, tofu eating sandal wearing do gooders. (*facepalm*)

That was awesome! I figured it was going to go for one of the giant otters. Don't really tend to think of much hunting crocs! Another good episode.
