Is anyone watching this on Fox right now? I'm digging it so far. They're keeping VERY close to the source material and seem to be following the original script word for word.
Edit: I wrote this before Frankenfurter's entrance. The original had a much more powerful intro to the character.

Forgot it was airing tonight. Might track down a copy. My local community little theater was advertising they were showing Rocky Horror the Friday before Halloween. And since my lady has never seen it with a crowd we were going to go. Then I found out they are just projecting a DVD and charging 20 a person. Forget that I own the DVD.

Here's the script for when the audience participation scenes are and what the audience is to do during the scenes. www.mortaljourney.com/2011/04/additional-doc/rocky-horror-picture-show-audience-participation-script

But, I guess no one is...

Laverne Cox is no Tim Curry. But, I guess no one is... Wont lie. Casting her has taken away a bit of the creepiness factor. You have to know her personal back story to know she's transgender. If you don't know that about her, it just seems like a woman running the place.

I'm disappointed!

Should have remade Shock Treatment. Especially with O'brien's original script (Whole town is the studio) Although I do like Shock Treatment as is, But I'd love to see how it would've turned out without the strike sandbagging it

I thought after Eddie was dead, Lavern kicked it up a notch and finished strong.
Overall, honestly, it feels like someone watched the original Rocky Horror film and felt it was too subtle. The camp was gone, the singers/actors were playing it a little too-straight and while I thought the handful of fanservice winks were played slyly enough to work (the not meatloaf again line got me) it just felt like an adult High School Musical that kind of missed the point of the original.
And I get a big part of any remake is about creating a new identity, which I thought the intro did incredibly well, and in terms of updates they really toned down the rapeish-elements of the original to make Brad and Janet's seduction more consensual without compromising the characters and the predicament.
But given the stage show and the original movie adaptation was rooted in a love of campy early sci-fi cinema, I don't understand the choice to play characters like Riff Raff and Brad and Magenta so super-seriously with no ham whatsoever.
But count me in as someone who would totally watch this type of take on Shock Treatment, which would probably benefit from such an approach.

C+ effort. Eddie, Janet, and Rocky were decent.
And Cox was ok for Sweet Transvestite, besides the cherry picker... Though really should be a transvestite rather than a transexual. Doesn't really work the way they did it.
But otherwise, just off. Especially Christina Milan. And Riff Raff's singing.

For right at 3 years I was there at least 4 times a month. She is the one that never saw it with a crowd before. What I loved about seeing it with a good crowd was each theater would have stuff that only they did. Usually throwing in local references. For the Silver Screen the one I remember the most was when Frank asks Brad and Janet if they have any tattoos. The audience says "How do you tattoo an asshole?" since that is what the crowd calls Brad. At the Silver Screen after that line people would shout "Ask Sailor Moses he will tattoo anything!" Since back then Sailor was the best local tattoo artist.

I feel a little bad. I've seen worse productions of it, certainly, and I'd say it was better than I expected, but if Cliff De Young couldn't hold a candle to Bostwick's Brad Majors, this dude didn't have a prayer.
Victoria Justice is like, radiant as all hell, and I loved her expressions throughout, but I can't say all of the cast had that spark.

It was alright. Cox was good as usual but she had a tall order, her delivery of "I didn't make him for YOU "didn't have Curry's oomph. Justice was awesome though.

Had the DVR set for this but it didn't record. FOX reception has been spotty since the exterminator did our termite inspection last week. I need to go up and adjust the antenna. In any case, we will catch it later on Netflix or Redbox or whatever.
