Yes, and this is literally the closest they've come to the World Series in over a decade, and if they win, they will be in their first World Series since the 40's. If they win THAT, they will officially be World Series champions for the first time in living memory. Like they said only 5% of people still living in Chicago were alive the last time they was there. My father who has been dead for 3 years wasn't even born yet Frankly, I'm astounded that it's as high as 5%.

Living in NY I am used to the highs (Yankees) and lows(Knicks, Jets) so seeing Chicago have their chance in baseball after all these years leaves me with a good feeling. Their will be smugness ahead though for sure if they do indeed win. Once you win once you expect to do it again year after year

One of you Chicago FANs, if you can, do a brother in exile a favor. If anyone's near Bucktown/Wicker Park, please, go to Burke's Web Pub in Bucktown, and have a f***ing drink for me. And if you can't manage that, f***ing party like nobody's business. Live it up, guys, the Cubs f***ing earned it.

Somewhere, AJ Lee was reading a graphic novel and relaxing when a loud YES erupted from the living room and she knew a new set of triplets would be delivered by sunrise.

I am so happy for Cubs fans right now. As a long time Red Sox fan, I can relate to what the fan base celebrated at Wrigley tonight. Had a lot of flashbacks watching tonight's game to the 2004 ALCS and the elation of winning the pennant after years of heartbreak. I'm really hoping they take the next step and break their curse.

My mom is happy, and she isn't a Cubs fan at all. I think she's happy for her nieces and nephews who were raised Cub fans by her brother, who died years ago.
Last time they were in the World Series, she was 9 months old.

So if the Cubs win do they just end baseball? A lot of the statistical records are unreachable, and theres no real strong storylines left,

A lot of the statistical records are unreachable, and theres no real strong storylines left, Nah, the narrative will shift to "Was it a fluke, or can the Cubs keep playing at the highest levels consistently?", at least until a new "underdog" team is established.

Is it really a curse when your ownership purposely built teams with no chance to win because they knew suckers would keep paying to see Wrigley and the Cubbies no matter how much they sucked? Yeah, the Cubs haven't won in forever. But most of that "Forever" is kinda their own fault. That said, a good part of me wants the Cubs to win it all just people shut up about it. Worked pretty well when both Sox won it all. As much as I know you don't like the Cubs and I love them, you are right. The Wrigleys and the Tribune didn't care about winning, just keeping the ballpark full. Harry Caray and presenting Wrigley Field as a great time were just ways to market the ballpark and experience over the team itself. That said, since Tom Ricketts bought the club he has shown that he wants this team to win and end the drought. Rebuilding the minor league system, having an organizational wide philosophy, rebuilding Wrigley not just to make it look good, but also more functional for the players and of course bringing in Theo,Hoyer and Maddon to run the show.

Still a lot of teams that have never won a World Series. It will be one of them should Chicago win. Hell it could be Cleveland if they don't win.
