At this point the wrestlers lock themselves inside the cell to get away from a still rambling Foley. Although at least Foley has the look of a rambling rambler ambling around the cell rambling to himself.
"The cell changes you! I'm a tree wizard! Alabama, Alabama..."

You can have a perfectly normal one on one match inside the ring in a hell in a cell match and never touch the cage. The more we've seen the cage the less dangerous it seems. At least in a standard cage match an Irish whip means you will hit the cage on the apron.
In a hiac match you can have a standard match and the cage never comes into play.

Didn't Randy Orton & Sheamus have that kind of match where they did nothing with the Cell?

I hate the Hell in a Cell PPV. Totally ruins what that kind of match should be. And in my mind cheapens the first women's HiaC ever, since it's on a PPV where like everything is in there.

The non use of blood really makes the stipulation redundant in this era

The whole "Hell in a Cell changes you forever" speech is just plain shite at this point. HIAC is so overused and watered down now it loses all meaning. Having Shane McMahon take the biggest cell bump in recent memory and have only a stretcher job and a slight limp the following night didn't really help matters. Shane had a way more compelling HIC match in 2006 even if he took Big Show's arse in his face, there was a lot of blood in it too

I remember the first one was so awesome. Shawn was beaten to a bloody pulp. He was thrown head first into the Cell multiple times, dropped off the side of the Cell, hit in the head with a chair, chokeslammed off the top rope...I had never seen someone get such an *** kicking in my entire life. It even has one of my favorite moments in wrestling on it: when Shawn superkicks Undertaker and Undertaker immediately sits up with this pissed off look on his face and Shawn is just scared to death. Then Kane ripped the padlocked door off it's hinges and tombstoned 'Taker. And at the end it looked like Shawn literally used every ounce of energy he had left in him to drape his arm over Undertaker and gets the pin. Now that's a Cell match! One of the best matches ever. And it made sense in storyline. Undertaker would've killed this guy by now if Shawn hadn't been running away or getting help from Hunter, Chyna, and Rick Rude. So let's lock them in a cage. I also think Vince does a great job of setting the tone (in his last match as a full time announcer). Early in the match they have a standard exchange that ends with Taker giving Shawn a nasty looking boot to the face and Vince goes ".......this is going to get really ugly". From that moment on every move feels so important and it really feels like Shawn is fighting for his life - except he's such a dick that it's the one time you don't feel sorry for the underdog getting massacred. Such a great match.

Yeah, the HIAC has meant squat for years now and should have been retired when the Attitude Era died out. Wrestlers nowadays go into the cell, have their match, and cut a promo with no noticeable changes in their demeanor the following night. In fact most of them have matches the next night where Michael Cole occasionally mentions "Wrestler X must be feeling the effects of last night!"

And in Foley's case, a lot of the trauma he experienced in the Cell was due to his plans backfiring. The start of the match. where he was challenging Undertaker to fight with him on the roof? Taker was like "alrighty then."
