We all remember how back in the 80s-90s (and even the early 2000s) there were all kinds of ads for compilation albums like Pure Moods, Freedom Rock, Monster Ballads, Cool Rock, Monsters of Rap, Buzz Ballads, and the like. Did anyone here ever buy any of them?

Yep! Except I didn't order via phone; I bought it from a store. I also have Pure Moods 2.

Now That's What I Call Music seemed pretty popular, they had a bunch of them.

These people knew where it was at when it came to Punk music. Sex Pistols, the Clash? Meh. Culture Club, now that's Punk.

My sister and I both had copies of Monsters of Rap when we were kids, and we definitely owned one called "Goin' South" which was all Southern Rock type songs.
A bit off topic, but remember those deals where you could get 12 CDs for a penny or whatever? A friend of mine back in the day did that and he let me pick out two of the CDs for myself, so that was pretty cool. (I got The College Dropout and something else I can't remember). I didn't have to deal with whatever fine print that came along with that deal either.

I also remember those Columbia House things, with the perforated pics of album covers.

I had Buzz Ballads it was awesome. I found it weird that they included Santeria, not exactly what i consider a "ballad".

Now That's What I Call Music seemed pretty popular, they had a bunch of them. Back when I was in High School it was easier to buy the Now cd then to buy 10 different albums for one song each so I had a ton of them.

In the 1990s I was always so tempted too. But I was mostly a pre-teen then and didn't have a credit card

Though it was a struggle to pay for the 5 full price CDs on a high school allowance's budget. And yeah, Monsters of Rap was all that!

Now That's What I Call Music seemed pretty popular, they had a bunch of them. My cousin used to have these CDs and I swear it's all that he listened to. He still liked M.C Hammer and Vanilla Ice YEARS after they went out of relevance.
