Mark Henrys championship run was glorious and I wish they'd kept him in the main event.

In hindsight, Orton winning the title from Christian was the right move. Henry beating Christian clean would have been a given and wouldn't have seen like a big deal. But him beating Orton (who was a step or 2 below Cena as far as losing is concerned) clean as a sheet was a HUGE deal and made him look like a damn beast... LOVED this run. Even bought a Hall of Pain shirt. I can see both sides of it. It was definitely a big deal to beat Orton clean at the time, but Henry destroying Christian and ending his "fairy tale" run would have also gotten a lot of heat. Edit: Though beating Orton had the added benefit of some of the more hardcore fans cheering for Henry, only for him to be like "Nah, you don't get to do that."

Mark Henry is so much better as a heel. I loved that they gave him a run with the title, but it was just a "thank you" run. They did what they always do with the World Title. Put it on a guy and have him regularly fight the Big Show (i.e. Jack Swagger, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio). They really should have given him a lengthy run with him just destroying guys that weren't the Big Show. I LOVED Hall of Pain Henry.

As boring as Big Show feuds usually are, I wouldn't say that was the case with the Henry feud. I found both guys worked really hard and found good workarounds for their limitations to give us a few really memorable matches. Their match at Survivor Series in particular was great.

I'm surprised Mark Henry didn't get a better push sooner in his career. He might have had a lot of improving to do when he started, but he should have always been an intimidating force in the ring, as opposed to being treated like a joke in the Attitude Era.

Hall of Pain Mizark was brilliant. He was legit scary. I don't know why WWE didn't stick with it.

Perfect example of terrifying monster heel dominating, similar to Vader's run in 92/93 WCW
Hall Of Pain Mark Henry was one of the reasons why 2011/early 2012 Smackdown was must-watch TV

It's crazy how he went from this guy almost no one cared about to one of the hottest stars. Look at the reactions when he won, just a bunch of people looking unimpressed. The great thing is this eventually led to his faux retirement speech where he turned on Cena and for a while you legitimately though they were going to have him take the belt off Cena.

I liked this, and I will admit I enjoyed Randy Orton in this match, especially his stagger at the end there before he got slammed.

I always thought that's why they inexplicably had Henry beat Ryback at WM29. Excuse to turn Ryback and set up Henry for the later title shot. Which didn't make it any less bizarre between Ryback/Henry, where Henry falls on Ryback's head during a Shellshocked attempt, Henry pins Ryback yet Ryback delivers Shellshocked afterwards anyways, with Henry bigging Ryback up in a post-match interview. Very odd all-round.

I need to find that promo after his title win, because it was perfect. The whole Hall Of Pain run was actually perfect.

I'm guessing he probably means the one from the Smackdown after he won the title when they had the entire roster out there for his speech.

I figured it was another one but wasn't sure. I was only a casual viewer at the time but I remember Henry's reign making a lot of waves in the best way.

Very odd all-round. Protecting both HoP Henry and Ryback and building to a big clash of the titans where Henry gets the shock win and there's a double turn (or, in Henry's case, fake face turn), would've been way more sensible and only required minor tweaks to what they actually did. Seemed to just end up as a near miss.
