This is what we are going to get right? Right!?!
Give it the "Once in a Lifetime" treatment. It would stand up alongside the absurd greatness of the Gimmick Battle Royal. Every Wrestlemia needs one goofy ass match to break up the night. Make it happen.

Ellsworth v Santino would be better. The more Santino the better, hugely underrated guy.

I despise gimmicky matches for the most part. However, as much as I hate this from a wrestling perspective, you're absolutely right that this is Wrestlemania match set up by a Rumble incident. It's good business and cheap pop common sense.
The ONLY problem is that WWE will continue the feud as a best of three or best of five or blow the Wrestlemania encounter by having them square off every single week leading up to Mania and also on the PPV before Mania.
But, at the heart of it, I cross the aisle to shake hands on the fact that you're absolutely right if this were done correctly.

I'd rather see Barry Horowitz.

He was one of the most consistently entertaining things on the show even when the material he was given was absolutely horrible. He should have either beaten the Honk-a-Meter or at least come within one day (even better if Honky Tonk Man screwed him out of the win). He should have won the Rumble over Del Rio, even if he later lost the title shot.

Gang, I absolutely love Santino as well, but the man himself has stated how he absolutely cannot go in any capacity anymore because of his neck, of which he's has repeated major surgeries on and now doctors advise him against even comedy spot-matches. He cannot bump at all or risk paralysis. It's a really sad, really serious injury.

For some strange reason I think Ellsworth is going to win the Battle Royal, where he's in the final three and the other two eliminate each other

No. Maybe on Smackdown, but sure as hell not at Mania. Ellsworth is wearing thin quick

So when the bell rings both men charge at each other, hit head to head knocking them both out and the match ends in a double count out, right?

So when the bell rings both men charge at each other, hit head to head knocking them both out and the match ends in a double count out, right? I'd do it as the exact opposite of Lesnar / Goldberg - build it up as a total joke where both guys will fall over at a stiff breeze, then they go out and have an epic hour-long war where it takes like 30 finishers in a row to get the pin.

Gillberg was a champion for the entirety of 1999, and James Ellsworth is 3-0 against the WWE champion! There's no way a clash of these titans wouldn't go at least 30 minutes!

After last night I'm bringing this thread back. All the major players are back in the company! It can happen! It needs to happen! It must happen!
Hell, it could even be marketed as the big "RAW vs Smackdown" Match.
