There's some twists to it, but it's an unabashed Disney movie, and that works to its advantage.
Dwayne steals the show, but Jermaine Clement makes it close.

Yeah I saw it this AM. Great stuff. Good acting, catchy songs, and looks gorgeous.

Every time I see something about this movie I start hearing the song "Rosanna" in my head, only for the lyrics to replace "Rosanna" with "Moana". Is this normal or should I contact a mental health professional about this?

I'm glad it's good. I'm trying to find a Moana plush for a donation toy, and all I can find is the hulking Maui which is not hug-able at all.

Me and my girlfriend are making a date to see it this week; dinner and a movie in fact.......assuming our work schedules cooperate.

Well, just saw the movie and I loved it. Great acting, amazing visuals, "You're Welcome" and "How Far I'll Go" will likely be stuck in my head for days, and the running gag of- {Spoiler}people jumping/being thrown off the boat and the ocean immediately throwing them back on never got old. Gotta say, this Disney Revival Age (Princess & The Frog onwards) is shaping up to be every bit as good as the Renaissance Age was. To me, they haven't released a single dud (possible exception of that Winnie the Pooh movie since I never saw it) in the last seven years, and with Wreck-It Ralph 2 the next one on the list, I'm expecting that momentum to hold for a while yet.

It was fantastic. It was the first movie to keep my 2 yo son's attention all the way through. It was a great message for my 5 yo daughter. The visuals were great, the Disney inside jokes were there, the music was awesome. It's a great compliment to Frozen, Brave, Tangled, and Princess and the Frog in the modern Disney princess catalog

I never see kids movies in the theater because I get annoyed by the crying babies and stuff, but I'll be seeing this for sure when it comes out on blu ray.

Just saw it today in the cinema and all in all, a good, but not great movie. There were a few things in there that kinda niggled but there were two strong leads and beautiful animation as well. The music was a strong point, although the crab's song was really rather jarring.

We actually found the Crab's song shiny to be the highlight of the film when we saw it. Overall I really enjoyed the film.

Winnie the Pooh was great, for what it was (an 80 minute long movie made for a demographic a sixth of how old I am.) My wife and I were actually the only adults without kids in the theater.

I loved the "Shiny" number. The thing about Moana that stuck out to me is how the story feels like an old legend being told, with some tweaks for a modern audience. So given Tamatoa's egotistical personality, his song having a "glam rock" sound fits his nature. It's kind of anachronistic, but I didn't mind it.
Plus Jermaine Clement is great at villain songs. He had another good one in the first Rio.
