I would have much rather gotten Cain than Cutch if I was the Giants. Between this and the Longoria deal, San Fran seems to have doubled down on being a middling franchise. Not worth the picks. The upgrade from Cutch to Cain isn't worth the high draft picks, IMO. If Cain was a JD Martinez level difference maker? Sure. But he isn't. JD is a guy who jumped up in slugging last year, is bad at defense, and is due for a big pay raise. I would rather have Cain at that cost than Cutch or Martinez. Your window is closing rather soon and those picks aren't gonna help as much as a good fielder you can slot into the 2 hole.

Giants are making some good move’s. They could be a playoffs team next season.

Kyle Crick is the first piece to go. So good so far.

Bryan Reynolds is the other.
Crick and Reynolds for McCutchen. I'll happily take it.

If I’m a Pirates fan, I have a few questions for Bob Nutting after seeing the returns for Cole and Cutch.

Giants get cash back from the Pirates opening the door back for Cain.
And you know what? Fxxx it. Go for it. All in now, I reckon.
--------
Cain Panik McCutchen Posey Longoria Crawford Belt Pence
That's.... not bad. If MadBum and Cueto stay healthy this year who knows. Maybe a shot at the playoffs is in order. It'll definitely be more clear a month into the season to see what AT&T Park does to the bats of Longo and Cutch.

Jays signed Curtis Granderson. Honestly, I'm getting sick and tired of Shapiro and Atkins shopping in the dollar store bin. Just start the rebuild, PLEASE DAMNIT. Why waste $5 million dollars plus playing time on 36 year old Granderson who was terrible for the Dodgers.

One of my favorite Mets based on character.

Yadi Molina told reporters that he will retire after his 3 year deal is up, so as it stands he will retire as a Cardinals. Happy to see that happen and I'm sure we will see Number 4 retired.

He can still mash (not against LHP, though) and he’s a better fielder than Bautista. His arm isn’t great, so I suspect that he platoons in LF with Pearce. Now, if this is all we’re doing, then I’m not going to be too pleased, but I don’t think it is and I think this is fine

Cain seems to be a bit of a longshot with the Giants right up against the luxury tax. Other cheaper names I've seen; Jarrod Dyson, Jon Jay, or Cameron Maybin.
All options better than in-house options Gorkys Hernandez or prospect Steven Duggar.
(Cutch to RF, Pence to LF was confirmed by Bochy today)

(Cutch to RF, Pence to LF was confirmed by Bochy today) Which is the way they should do it imo Like I said before I think Dyson is way to go but if you are weary about him hitting lefties than Jay would probably be the best cheapest option but Maybin has the most upside if he's healthy

Word going around is that Mets didn't land McCutchen because they didn't want to give Pittsburgh Brandon Nimmo in the deal.
For f***'s sake.

Isn't Nimmo essentially stuck behind Lagares, Conforto, Cespedes and now Bruce I guess they are holding on to him just in case Conforto injury is more serious than imagined

They didn't get him because A: They need a center fielder and he can't play CF. B: More importantly, they don't have the money. If estimates a few weeks ago were correct, they spent almost all of it on Bruce's salary for this year.

Pirate fans have started a petition asking MLB to force Pirates owner Bob Nutting to sell the team after the team's recent tradings of Gerrit Cole and McCutchen Josh Harrison, who is also getting shopped apparently, said that he wants out if the team is going into rebuilding mode. Meanwhile, Huntington said that they're not rebuilding since they feel like they have players ready to go. I work for the Pirates in a minor capacity, but I am excited to see what opening day is like. A hostile crowd or no crowd at all.
