Awesome that it's in California! Wish it was closer to me though. SoCal is so far from where I'm at that it might as well be a different state.

The LB Convention Center can hold anywhere from a few thousand to over ten thousand. I wonder which section they have in mind.

New Japan is serious about expanding and becoming a global company. They don't want to just be the top promotion in the east anymore, they wanna be the top promotion worldwide. This year alone they've done shows in Singapore, New Zealand and Taiwan as well as co shows in the US and UK. They see the market is big in the West and that people will pay good money to see them put on shows.

I wonder how ROH feels about all of this. "Maybe we should've focused on building up our own guys."

They should work on creating a more American friendly version of New Japan World if they are hoping to expand their reach over to the states.

On one hand, cool if it works out for them. On the other, I'm sure ROH feels the gratitude. Still, I do hope NJPW isn't going to be naive enough to think that it'll be easier or the same without ROH helping them out.

Remember when TNA were plugging Bellator and using MMA fighters on the show at their own expense to appease Spike even though it was obvious they were being used to advertise their replacement? It's looking more and more like that's what the RoH/New Japan relationship is.

That's cool for them. I know Gedo is trying so hard to be big in the States. I do wish it came at a time when I was more interested in their product though.

Well, if they're looking to run LA that's at least an area that ROH doesn't usually run in (though they obviously do Vegas each year...not exactly next door, but not worlds away, either); if they keep it to areas like that, it could still work well.
But, hey, ROH just had an excellent Final Battle without using much in the way of NJPW talent on the card, so it's possible both companies are reassessing things while maintaining their relationship. Guess we'll see.
Hope NJPW is careful with this, though, especially if they're looking to run G1 shows. That's already an incredibly exhausting time of the year for their roster, throwing in a trans-Pacific flight or two makes that even tougher.

An update as according to PWInisder, Rocky Romero was in Long Beach the past week and was meeting with George Caroll and they were doing ground work for the dates.
The dates for the shows could be announced as soon as Wrestle Kingdom

I mean, I don't want to jump to conclusions since I don't know your situation, but it's actually not so bad. It's just a straight shot down the 5 for about 4 to 5 hours. If not, you can take a plane to Long Beach. The trip is about 90 minutes long; if you book ahead of time, the flights are really cheap.

Cool Outside chance I'll actually go to those if tickets don't sell out ridiculously quick. I went to college in Southern California and haven't been back for years. This gives me a little more impetus to visit
