'Best of' episode today focusing on HHH stuff. Hosted by Tony S. How are the Tony bits? Anything new in the ep? Tony is fine as a host for his 30 second lead-ins, but not worth listening to just for that. Nothing new, literally just a cycle of Tony introduction -> segment -> music bed lead in to new advertisements -> back to segment then start over with a new Tony bit and new episode callback. They seemed (and Tony even mentions this specifically) to mix "good" with "bad" sides of HHH in this so that was sort of the theme. Fine in the background, I listened to this before and during a walk to get my preschooler from his class, but this isn't an episode to make an appointment for.

So since Bruce upgrading his gig at WWE... WM XX episode was awful. WM X was really good. X7 I don't remember, guess I should relisten. Michael Hayes was fluffy and short, so that was a whatever-just-for-fun kinda episode. Austin 98/99 pretty much unlistenable due to Conrad's beard rustling the mic. Backlash '04 was good but Bruce sounded exhausted. This week is a 'best of' throwing together stuff from different episodes. It might be best to do a new only once every other week now, giving both dudes a chance to work out the kinks (and not put more stress on Bruce's rare downtime) a bit and throw in these single topic best of ones in between. Dunno if we're nearing the end of the show overall but we're certainly in a bit of a downturn right now. The Lawler episode was great too. I think that was the first episode taped since he went back full-time. I wouldn’t mind every other week. Slows them down a bit and then if Bruce can stay on for a few years in WWE, eventually we can have a whole new slate of shows on modern-day WWE. You're entirely right about the Lawler episode, I forgot that one.

They are doing these best of’s when traveling now because I think Conrad got pissed at al the complaining on Twitter about his beard and the mic. I honestly didnt think it was that distracting.

Yeah, I didn't really notice any major audio problems at all. I think the beard thing is just an excuse because Bruce is busy with his WWE job and Conrad is probably busy with things on his end, too.

One of the bigger things to come out of the JBL episode..... Vince knows Austin Powers!?!? Vince mentioned on commentary at the 1997 "One Night Only" event that they all watched the first AP movie on the plane ride to the show. The story about the ranch owner almost shooting Bruce and JBL was pretty funny/scary.

Considering it's about one of their friends, this episode is expectedly fluffy. Ok enough of a listen but you know what you're getting here.

Along the lines of "well I treat people like they treat me and he's always treated me great so I love him" kinda stuff when they bring it up. They're not about to really address it. It's mentioned, and then waved away.

One of the bigger things to come out of the JBL episode..... Vince knows Austin Powers!?!? I remember it being reported back in 2000 that he had just seen the 2nd movie and he thought Fat Bastard was the funniest thing so they had Big Show do it on TV...Ah to be back when Vince was only a year behind in pop culture. I love those stories of Vince 2000 and later bringing up movies that were years old like they were brand new because he had just seen them in an attempt to seem hip.

I can’t imagine Vince siting down watching a movie It’s tough to imagine but he had that period for a fews years 2000 on where he was trying to seem hip where either people in his inner circle would push him to watch stuff or he’d do it on his own and show up to work and talk about something 5 years old or older.I think it was comedian Patrice O’Neal who worked as a writer in 00/01 during a radio interview saying Vince came over to him in 2001ish and said “Hey Pal have ya seen that hot new flick Jerry Maguire?” Patrice replied “Yeah like 6 years ago”.Patrice didn’t work there long.

One of my favorite things he ever did in regards to this is name dropping Darth Vader in like 2010 or so like it was a timely reference.

I was annoyed they glazed over some stuff, like JBL on commentary (he was there for the smackdown era 06-08)especially his take on the crapping on the Miz, and tbf he was the best heel commentator on the show for years
