Did anyone happen to get a glimps of this on vh1?The week before it aired,I had very low expections.Considering the promos had mostly corey taylor and dee snider in them, and that it was from vh1.Thus giving me the impression that was gonna be nothing but hairs bands and mallcore.Surprisingly it was a nice viewing. It covered a good chunk of metal history. Since it was a documentary done by a cultural anthropoligist who is a metal head,it was well researched.Nu metal and hair bands were only lightly mentioned.Pretty much every genre of metal was discussed. The wacken open air festival was chosen over concerts like ozzfest. And interviews with bruce dickinson and dio were pretty cool. The drawbacks were that they could of went into a little bit of more detail for power metal. And they should have extended the black metal segment beyond just the church burnings.Given that the documentary maker probobly didn't have a huge budget and only two hours,I can sort of see why it came out this way. Anyway, anybody's thoughts? This was somewhat of a surprise for a program airing on an mtv network.

I had it on and enjoyed it. I'm not too much of a metalhead but I was named after a metal singer. So I've always had that connection anyway.
I enjoyed it, as it was showing metal for more than just music: showing the very core and what it means to live the metal lifestyle.
Plus: VH1 is usually better than MTV, so much so that I forget that they are connected.

I loved it and watched twice.
My favorite part...
Interviewer: (I paraphrase) Does God really hate us all?
Tom Araya: No..God doesnt hate.
But it's a great f***in' title.

I think the documentary works because the guy that filmed it was just a normal guy and not some elitist outspoken prick. I could picture that guy hanging with my friends and I at a show or something. This is where Michael Moore fails.
