Is this the right thread to point out how much we love to make fun of people's looks (Owens's weight, Banks's hair, Kevin Dunn in general), yet whenever WWE themselves do it on TV we get mad about it?
(Like, I asked this once before and literally got the answer of "WE'RE ALLOWED TO BECAUSE WE'RE JUST FANS, THEY'RE NOT")

Good one tonight, Graves goes on a tangent about how there's nothing wrong with Owens believing in himself when Reigns does that so much himself it's on T-shirts and is his catchphrase, Saxton goes, "Yeah, but Owens shoves it in your face!" while basically completely missing Corey's entire point.

It comes off as counterproductive at times for a company that's trying to make money.

On the Rise and Fall of WCW, Jim Ross says WCW was dumb having Jay Leno wrestle. WWE then has Snooki wrestle at Wrestlemania.

It comes off as counterproductive at times for a company that's trying to make money. It's also a matter of the audience size. They've got millions of viewers and many of them are young and/or impressionable. As such when they're throwing out insults about the appearance of their stars and whatnot, it has far more impact than anyone here doing that. That said, this place does get terrible with jokes about physical appearance, especially fat jokes. So I got no defence for them.

It was "good business" when the wwf lured talent from the awa and other territories by offering more money to talent than the promoters could afford to pay, but when wcw lures talent away from the wwf by offering more money than the wwf could afford to pay, it's "Ted Turner's business motive was to hurt the other guy".

But even then, there also ties to another type of fan hypocrisy related to this: "HOW DARE WWE make fun of Kevin Owens's weight/Sasha Banks's hair/etc.? Those things don't matter- they can wrestle so well they're ruining their stardom!" "Eva Marie's mocked for being just a generic model? TAKE THAT, worthless loser! Snitsky's gimmick is making fun of his yellow teeth? Should have thought about that before being a worthless hoss!"

Be A Star Ps: our good guys make heterosexist, fat-shaming, slut-shaming comments on a somewhat regular basis Y'know, I would f***ing love for someone to publicly call them out on that. If it were a case where the heels make fun of the faces and then the faces end up getting retribution through working hard and never giving up or some shit, that'd be fine. But the faces do it too, and even more often than heels do! WWE partners up with all of these kid-oriented organizations and then they have the women call each other bitches for no reason at all while claiming it's a "revolution". Also, John Cena's entire feud with The Rock. ...Why does Cena want to give Rock a cleveland steamer?

WWE partners up with all of these kid-oriented organizations and then they have the women call each other bitches for no reason at all while claiming it's a "revolution". The problem with it is that it also has a problem: Most of WWE's anti-bullying stuff can't possibly be called out on. Part of calling out the comments made in WWE as bullying people is to inherently know that even if they ignore the comments: Pro wrestling is an artform built around FIGHTING. The whole POINT of professional wrestling is that if two people have even the slightest disagreement with each other, for any reason or none at all whatsoever, from "you turned your back on our friendship and threw it all away for nothing" literally all the way down to "you spilled coffee on me!", that disagreement is inherently FIGHTING WORDS. They HAVE to settle it, they can't settle it by talking things out- the only way to settle things and have one person get satisfaction is by the two people fighting over it...and that lesson, in and of itself, is completely unsustainable since it's the absolute worst lesson to teach in an anti-bullying mission entirely.
