Reigns Drags Everyone Around Him Down

First the Usos, them Ambrose, and now Rollins. All these characters were impacted after being involved with Roman.

Why are they literally ruining other faces to help a character this is still not over as the face they want to be?

Rollins was mega over when he came back, they forced him to insult the audience in hopes it would get Roman cheered, and after re-pairing them, they both get a 10th of the cheers as they did in The Shield. 

Roman could really work as a badass face, who never talks and just beats people up, but instead they make him tell bad jokes, which gets him booed, then pair him with other over faces, just to kill their reactions too.


EDIT: Just wanted to note this is not an attack on Roman, but the terrible way they are handling him and everyone around him.

Lesnar vs Roman was at least interesting, everything they have done with him sense has been terrible.

I thought this would be about how every match Roman has is exactly the same dull routine of him spending half of it in a resthold, then kicking out of his opponent's entire arsenal twice over, then doing eight billion Superman punches. That's three times now in the past three months - and I assume four from that Raw match a few weeks ago I didn't see - he's had a boring as hell one-on-one match with Owens that made both of them look like complete chumps, Roman for getting his ass kicked the entire match and KO for being completely unable to put him down or to survive even a little offense from him.

But I agree, he's terrible, I couldn't name you many people if any he's actually helped by feuding with them or being with them. Usos became super hated, AMbrose became Little Buddy, Rollins is a TERRIBLE Face and shit like Sparkle Crotch feels like a residual Romanism like a damn virus. Then there are the people he's feuded with like Rusev, Jericho, Owens, Wyatt, and he's supposed to be a Midcard Champion? Basically a door holder for the future? Oh joy...

I think the only dude that has benefitted from a Roman match is Balor, because he won clean, and even then the Wrestling Gods (But mostly some Magic knows Black Lives Matter Voodoo) did him in too...

Reigns is just bad, and I really just don't see him getting any better in this state or him helping anyone either.

Not that I can disagree too strongly on much, but the Usos were already getting turned on. Remember the erupting cheers when the Dudleyz put them through tables? The crowd was burned out on the Usos, who are talented but who had become stagnant as hell.

Roman was a convenient scapegoat for them to blame, but they turned heel for a reason. They needed a fresh direction in a big way, and Roman was just a symptom of that, not the cause.

His initial feud with Roman after coming back killed him. They were so focused on Roman getting cheered, they killed his momentum. The first 3 shows back he had the biggest reaction.

Granted writing like "sparkle crotch" will kill anyone's forward progress, but his feud with Roman was a killer.

- Match becomes more even

- Big Move Back and Forths, this includes from Roman the Sitout Powerbomb, Samoan Drop, Driveby and the Rare Crossbomb

- Every Move is usually is kicked out of by Roman Reigns while in fairness the other opponent usually kicks out as well  

- Reigns hits Superman Punch with OOOWAAAAAH

- Opponent has one last hope spot in which they hit their Finisher or put on their Big Submission 

- Roman Kicks out or Powers Out

- Spear

- Roman Wins

It's the same F***ing Match, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And people can try and argue with me about it, but there is little to no deviation in his pattern. Everyone has similar mannerisms and sets with opponents and how they present themselves, but Roman Reigns is so down to the letter because it feels like they don't know any other way to be in a match. It's so repetitive and dull that who the hell can get invested in it or him? By the sounds of the crowd, not many people...

Oh no I don't look at that as the reason the crowds turned, it was more the last straw for any lingering fans when they just started rolling with Roman, and it did make for a good scapegoat in the end so hey, they're lighting it up on Litdown right now, happy for that.

I like the Owens/Jericho pairing but as soon as Reigns (and to a lesser degree Seth) appears my interest level plummets. I find both guys absolutely boring, Reigns more so than Rollins and between the pair of them I have no interest in Raw's main event scene.

Pretty much. I find both characters equally as much of an utter mess and both performers just as awkwardly overpushed, only real differences are Seth's at least competent in the ring and his chosen one label isn't as blatant so the crowd hasn't turned on him. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they eventually do.

Reigns vs Owens
You don't need me to go into Reigns so let's attack Owens character. He was a nasty merciless bully in NXT who used the fact he had a child to justify his horrible actions. Now he is involved in a comedy bromance and just doesn't do anything to get heat. I should be wanting to reach through my tele and strangle the guy rather than be laughing at the antics of the top heel.

Rollins vs Jericho
Rollins is the opposite to Owens in that we are given no reason at all to cheer for Rollins. The guy has been a horrible PoS for years, looks like a greasy twat and we are supposed to cheer for him why? Jericho is supposed to be the heel but he's the most entertaining guy on the roster with decades of goodwill and I am supposed to boo him?

Charlotte vs Sasha
Charlotte again is supposed to be the hated heel but she breaks character in every interview and cries about her accomplishments and how much it means to her. Sasha's character again is just wafer thin

New Day vs Sheamus & Cesaro
I've been into how much I dislike the New Day but compared to everyone else on the roster they are so three dimensional. The WWE have never invested any time into Cesaro so why should I care and Sheamus has just been booked awful since he first won the world title.

Cruiserweights
Okay I take back what I said about the New Day as Brian Kendrick is the best character on Raw. (I love how both Kendrick & London returned to TV so soon after one another and both are so fantastic). His grizzled desperate veteran gimmick is something I can understand and relate to. A dancing fun guy or a videogamer? I'll pass on the rest of the division.

Zayn vs Braun
I love Zayn. He has that every-man thing going for him like Bryan does but his run on Raw hasn't been great and it's entering Dolph Zigglerish meta-half-shoot-bullshit with his feud with Foley. Braun is just a big dude that doesn't seem scary or anything. He should be killing fools Hall of Pain Mark Henry style but I saw him the other day in a comedy skit about scarves with Jericho and Owens. Your top 3 heels talking about scarves.

Rusev vs Cass
Okay if you want Braun to be this loveable goofy giant then let Rusev go back to killing people. This guy could be your Matanza style monster unbeatable champion if Vince got over his hatred of the Lana/Rusev marriage. Cass as a singles guy doesn't appeal to me yet either. But them back into the tag team division.



The problem is that it's impossible to care about any of these terrible characters. Aside from Brian Kendrick the New Day, and maybe this new Cesaro-Sheamus team, none of them are really working or getting the right reactions due to the abysmal writing top-to-bottom.

If you listen really closely during the Reigns/Owens Roadblock match, right before the nth chinlock spot, you can hear Reigns mutter "Lord Steen, I can't work on your level, help me!" and Owens, being the PROFESSIONAL he is, gets Reigns in yet another chinlock to let him rest up.

This Reigns thing is just bizarre to me. It's not like this guy has any actual track record of drawing money and actually Raw's ratings have utterly cratered in the time that he has been pushed as a top singles guy. For all the talk of him being the next Diesel, it's not like Diesel was pushed constantly for THAT long of a time period. He won the title after Survivor Series 1994 and lost it at the 1995 Series. He was gone from the company entirely by May 1996. We're already about 2 years into the Reigns push and what has WWE gotten out of it?

As far as Rollins goes, there's something off about him of late. I mean yeah his character sucks right now, but I mean his matches. He has just lost something since that injury. Quite honestly he needs to quit doing the Pedigree since he can't even do the move properly. He just lets his arms flail to the side rather than bring the guy down to the mat with the move. After all this time there's no rationale as to why anyone should care about Rollins or cheer him. HHH screwed him and decided to help another heel? So what?

Yeah, his face turn has been shit. He turned his back on Roman and Ambrose, was The Authority's chosen one, he won the MITB briefcase because of Kane, threatened to destroy Edge if The Authority wouldn't be put back in power, said he was still going to "kill him" after The Authority got their power back, he cashed in MITB in the main event of Mania after in kayfabe terms both Brock and Roman earned the right to win that match, in his one match with Brock he got bailed out by Taker, hid behind The Authority the entire time, and was pretty much hitting on Steph (a married woman) when he came back while Triple H was out, and he's now a face because Triple H didn't like him anymore? At least they should have had him do something against Triple H to warrant a face turn. The storyline is basically cheer the slimy douche because Triple H beat him up.

It's pretty much Orton in 2004, he turned face, but we weren't given a reason to cheer him.
