Lately SD is more fun than NXT. A big part of is NXT is in there rebuilding phase but the best moments in WWE came from SDL this year. AJ Styles is the best thing going on, The Miz is the best heel, Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch is the best women's feud of the year, the saga of Ellsworth was great, The saga of Heath Slater looking for a job into being the tag team champion was amazing, Randy Orton as a Wyatt Family member has been great, etc.
Like I said NXT is in the awkward rebuilding phase and most of the one hour shows are starting to feel stagent. Like it's basically heel wins a match and we get a heel beatdown or babyface wins by a roll up and heel beatdown or a DQ finish and a heel beatdown or a promo that results to a heel beatdown. Like I'm getting tired of seeing another Bobby Roode, Sanity, Kay/Royce, Authors of Pain, Cien, Samoa Joe, etc beatdown.
Also losing many of the writers going to SDL and Dusty Rhodes death had major impact on the product. Like the current roster isn't really much different from the 2013 roster in talent but the characters or storylines of 2013 blows 2016 out of the water.

More like "Smackdown, Talking Smack and now 205 Live" is fun while Raw is not. Yep. Not to crusade against NXT but it's not being discussed. Even on Reddit, which has the biggest wrestling forum online, they don't post many gifs or topics about what happens because... not much happens. Takeover shows still do okay for now but if the booking remains on auto-pilot, I imagine those big shows will take a hit. No one gave much of a f*** about Nakamura/Joe. Many were disappointed with Balor/Nakamura. They're fumbling.

It's a hell of a lot easier to make cupcakes than a wedding cake. 3 hours is a lot to fill for one show, much less 4-5 a month, but financially, it's something WWE is stuck doing. If you had the same exact writers from Smackdown, or NXT, doing it, you may well get a better show, but they would also blow through their material much faster, or their material would have to be injected with filler to make it last, and it, too, would suffer. Yeah, also NXT really don't have to answer to anyone. RAW has to deal with the network and advertisers etc. Fair, but keep in mind RAW used to be a lot of fun to watch.

The length sucks, but even if it were 2 hours, with Vince micro-managing it to the degree that long term stories can't be built other than making Roman look strong, then Raw would still suck.
The CWs on Raw suck b/c they're stuck under Raw's writers. I assume 205 Live is also written by the SDL crew and we're finally getting some life into the division.
NXT I watch weekly, and some weeks may be dull, but something happens, or I get to see Rich Swann come back with the Cruiserweight title and get a kick ass reaction from the crowd. Full Sail, even though obnoxious at times, really helps make the shows fun for the most part.
And to scapegoat the brand split is ridiculous. Pre-split Raw was even worse because Vince had ALL the talent to ruin, and SD to ignore. Since the split we've had cool feuds, AJ as freaking WWE Champion, and the birth of JeriKO. And even that was a happy accident of two people having amazing chemistry.
I'd go so far as to say that every show but Raw is fun. Then again every show but Raw isn't being micro-managed by one person who considers it his baby. That he apparently hates and wants to ruin.
You can blame writers, length, brand split, the winter solstice or your favorite sportsin team not making it to the playoffs. Fact is this rests on the shoulders of one guy who calls the shots and, again, micro-manages only one of the shows. And we've heard the stories from ex-writers/workers to back this up. Dude can't see the forest for the trees. Booking the one that sucks the most and has for years.
I'm pretty sure the SD crew is like
SDC: Vince we wanna do- Vince: Sounds good, can you bring Roman in here please?
