He isn't THE man in the company, even though he is He isn't everywhere, all the time anymore, but most everyone can't wait to see him again.
He isn't selling merch every night, because he ain't there...
TURN. HIM. HEEEEEEEEL.

From a $$$ I think WWE miss him, but for overall quality of show, they are doing fine. The next big thing cannot come about while Cena is there so maybe it is better with him gone for long periods for WWE to try new people in his top dog spot and see which one catches on. At the minute out of everyone I can;t really see anyone stepping up and becoming the new main guy of WWE. Stone Cold and the Rock bother were unlikely candidates when they started, so trying to guess who will be the next breakout is hard and could be anyone. Obviously there are plenty of tried and failed guys around so it won't be them, has to be someone who has not yet had an opportunity at the spotlight. If I had to pick someone already on the roster who could potentially be the next guy it would be Enzo or Jason Jordan.

Right, turn him heel NOW when people actually mostly like him for the first time in nearly 12 years.

Right, turn him heel NOW when people actually mostly like him for the first time in nearly 12 years. To be fair, that does sound like a WWE strategy. "Austin's a mega draw and still selling big merchandise? TURN HIM HEEL!"

And what does that gain? Cena isn't on the road enough to capitalize it. Smackdown doesn't have enough top level faces for him to work against. Turning someone like AJ leaves the heel depth chart loopsided. Cena is in the Hulk Hogan in 1993 spot. There enough to keep business going while new blood are in the spotlight. The whole turn Cena heel thing is more because people want to like him without feeling ashamed and losing their online cred. John currently is liked by both casuals and smarks due to the work he is putting in and out of the ring and accepting his importance to WWE and wrestling. Turning him heel is a waste and bad move all around.

They sell his merchandise at every single show they hold, Raw or Smackdown.

I'll admit performance wise, Cena could play a very good heel, and I think he could still move merch if he turned. But there are so many other superstars doing great heel work in WWE now, like Owens, Jericho, Charlotte, Miz, and especially Styles. It's not really needed. Cena's currently fine where he is as the beloved veteran.

I would love to see Cena heel, but I'm afraid he'll turn into the cowardly weak heel types like so many others.
Remember Austin's heel turn? Didn't take long for him to tap out to a finisher.

Cena turning heel hasn't entered my mind since 2013.

The time to do it was either in the 2011 Punk feud or the 2013 Bryan feud. The ship on a Cena heel turn has sailed IMO.

He'll turn heel when he forms whatever updated nWo they've come up with in 2020 when he somehow winds up in TNA.
Cena's a company man for life, you say? Yeah. They said that about Hogan, too.
