Have they officially announced Rick Rude or is that still just a rumor?

Teddy Long, Rick Rude and Beth Phoenix had been leaked as confirmed 2017 inductees by those in the know for a little while now.
So Teddy wasn't a shocker today. Rude's announcement is coming up (I assume...)

I've been saying for years that the only celebrities that really should be in the WWE Hall of Fame right now are Mr. T, Cyndi Lauper, and Andy Kaufman. I'm okay with Bob Uecker, Mike Tyson, and Pete Rose, and one could make cases for the future inductions of Lawrence Taylor and maybe - MAYBE - David Arquette, but this celebrity wing thing is getting ridiculous. If I may throw in two more to your list (As I feel we both share highly selective parameters): Regis Philbin and Arsenio Hall. Both lifelong fans who always gave a space in their broadcasting for wrestling with absolute respect for the business/the savvy to keep their interviews sensical in kayfabe but not insulting to the non-fan. Just as what Trump did for the company with WM 4/5, Reeg and Hall reliably have done for years in the broadcast wing. I was watching I think summerslam 06 and Will Sasso was n audience and didn't even get a mention so he is definitely a fan and he has done some things with wwe wouldn't mind seeing him get in.

So in next year's game if they do the Hall of Fame Showcase does that mean Doom would be the team Teddy would be with and would Ron Simmons induct him?

So Kurt Angle wants Steve Austin to induct him and RNRX probably get a tag team off the current roster, who inducts Teddy? I'd love to see the APA do it personally, They're close and the APA are great at this so it'd be fun.

Long also managed Marc Mero, but that probably won't happen, either.

Am I the only one who's like, "Uhhh, Teddy Long?"
I mean, he seems like a nice, well-liked guy, but I remember him as a heel ref/B-level manager in the NWA/WCW and for legit screwing up left and right as a ref in the Attitude Era. Did he really do all that much as a GM to make a HOF case?
And Beth Phoenix?

Shame Mike Shaw is dead. He could have inducted Teddy and in return could have given him that key.

The stand out female competitor for almost half a decade. 4 time champion. Royal Rumble entrant... And it'll get Edge on TV so I'm all for it.

Im still really baffled at Beth Phoenix, I do lover her. But Molly, Ivory, Victoria? All alive and well, all of whom have been previous Hall of Fame guests in recent years. The only thing they don't have is a relationship with a former top star.

Beth isn't official yet, that original list wasn't 100% correct as it didn't list Teddy or the Rock and Roll Express.
Hell right now they are 0 for 3 as they didn't even mention Angle either.

True, all three were reported by PWInsider though so I am inclined to believe that one, it would make her the youngest inductee at 36. Trish was 38 in 2013, Sunny was 39 in 2011

Did he really do all that much as a GM to make a HOF case? And Beth Phoenix? For me he did a poor to adequate job throughout his career as a manager, ref & GM. In my opinion simply doing your job for thirty years shouldn't equate a hall of fame place. I'm sure many would counter my argument citing his longevity, popularity and success in the business though.. Ultimately the lack of a definitive criteria and the subjective cases made for/against each inductee make it difficult to definitively say that a talent should or shouldn't merit a Hall of Fame place. It always generates an interesting debate though!
