Maybe it's an indication of Smackdown's overall quality recently, or that he most likely doesn't have Vince in his ear, or that JBL is invested in content he actually enjoys and doesn't have to resort to yelling stuff to try to get it over..I dunno, but I think JBL has really upped his game as of late.

Really? Cause I was super annoyed about how much he was yelling on Tuesday. JBL on SDL is exactly how Heyman was on Bring It to the Table, and I don't like either.

He is being used better than he had been, in part because he has more to comment on, and less time to have to fill. Ellsworth alone is kind of a wealth of material for him.

I liked King and Mauro chemistry better but Mauro and JBL are getting there. His rants on Ellsworth alone are outrageous.

I always enjoy his commentary on big brawler types, which you can tell he's clearly into (well, he was one himself), so he always makes Corbin sound like a million bucks, and I think he does a hell of a job putting over the Wyatt's.

He's way better now than he was on Raw. Honestly he's probably my favorite commentator on the main roster right now, since Graves has pretty much morphed into JBL on Raw and it's not a hat he wears well, Cole and Saxton are more annoying being allowed to talk than they were with JBL constantly shouting them down, Mauro doesn't do it for me, and do I have to say anything on Otunga?

I find him entertaining, and unlock a lot of people I find Otunga pretty good too. Otunga, unlike Saxton, stands up to the the heel commentator and will actually bicker with them to show them how they are wrong (even if he himself is wrong some times) instead of being dismissed by a few insults. I think this helps JBL because he isn't just an annoying loud-mouthed jerk shouting down his own product if someone occasionally puts him in his place. I also like how the Smackdown commentary shows more emotion, instead of robotically cycling through promos for the main eventers all night until commentary becomes nothing but the hum of them droning on and on.

He's not as good as he was during his first run with Cole on Smackdown, but he's much better than he was on Raw.

The smackdown team as a whOle is bringing it imo. . And to have the wrestling gawd back on his game is a welcome plus.

It helps that JBL hasn't got Byron Saxton there to distract him with his OTT desire to kill him or something.

Hell yeah, he's my favorite commentator overall in WWE right now.

He's been doing great again. He and Mauro play off of one another really well and you can tell they spend a lot time at the bar together trying to one-up each other on wrestling factoids. He was also really good on Talking Smack and his interactions with AA and Ambrose were very entertaining.

I'm in the same boat. He's far more enjoyable on SD. His hatred of Ellsworth makes me laugh pretty hard every week.

I wouldn't miss him if he left, but for the most part I don't want to reach through the TV and strangle him at least.

He's better than he was on RAW, but that's hardly saying much; he was abysmal on RAW. Right now he feels like a parody of his first run. He's full of nonsensical dated references and constantly shouts at his fellow commentators for no reason. There was one point in the show when he was ragging on Phillips, Mauro did the feed to the commercial, and so JBL threw in an insult to him. It didn't make sense, it wasn't funny, and it reeked of trying too hard.
I'd rather they send JBL back to RAW, ditch Otunga and bring Graves to Smackdown. A Mauro/Phillips/Graves team would be amazing, and a JBL/Cole/Byron team would reflect the quality of RAW.
