I'm guessing the move was first called Emerald Flowsion but mistraslated to Emerald Frosion because of the Japanese L and R thing and then somebody in English thought that Frosion was a misspelling of Fusion.
Or are there any better explanations?

That's probably how it happened. Similar to the whole Rolling/Roaring Elbow thing

I remember that one being all over the map in fan translations for Japanese video games.
In addition to the ones you listed, there was also Emerald Frozen and Emerald Frozion.

What is a flowsion anyway? Flowing Explosion would be my guess. Also, add "Froison" to the list of mistranslations.
