Rewatching one of the very few episodes this short-lived cartoon had...and I'm wondering how the hell did this not catch on?
It started off as a toyline by Matchbox, very simple concept of a jet or plane attached to a ring that you would put on your finger, you could also collect massive carrier vehicles with special launchers where you could propel the jets straight into some poor sod's unsuspecting eye socket.
The premise of the actual show was great...basically a temporal cold war between aerial dogfighters belonging to two different organizations. All of the pilots are assembled from different time periods.
I remember getting the "Ring of Fire" episode as a gift years ago packaged with a small plane. I lost the toy pretty easily but kept the tape for years afterwards, I had the annual too which gave me all kinds of great character bios and stories. Really wish it had caught on.
Here's the episode
