While we're on the topic of Ellen, apparently Anne Heche is getting ready to spill all her dirty secrets on the O'Reilly (O RLY) Factor.

What's wrong with, Ellen? She starred in the smash-hit Mr. Wrong, and that makes her one of the tops in my book.

I was hoping for Michael Moore, or at the very least... Tom Cruise.

It could have been Jack Black, since he's doing the Kids Choice Awards as well as the VMA's...and we know how great those shows were.

Stephen Colbert must host an award show sometime. It would be the best. Seriously.

I'm okay with Ellen hosting, she'll keep it clean and she's great at the impromptu musical numbers. But the Oscar telecast is like a German train station these days, they are obsessed with keeping it moving, so I think the host matters less as they strive to bring it in at close to three hours. There isn't time to be bored much.

I'm glad they're trying to move it along, because Oscar ceremonies are so distant from wheat they used to be. If you want a stunning look at what the Academy Awards looked like before the grand orchestras, mammoth sets and red carpet pre/post shows, pick up the Godfather DVD set, they have a Bonus Features disc which includes clips from the 1972 and 1974 Oscars when Coppola and others accept awards for The Godfather I & II. The "sets," if you want to call them that, are empty stages with set lights clearly visible in the background. The "speeches" usually consist of nothing more than 10 words or so. It's a real trip. That's what the Oscars should go back to, dammit.

In the 1930's the Oscars were simply a dinner party with the awards handed out at the very end, no red carpet, barely any speeches.

Who the hell cares? The Oscars are ultimately meaningless.

You know, it doesn't matter who hosts the show. If the audience is anything like it was this year, then the show is going to suck! I mean, this year the whole audience was acting like they were depressed. DEPRESSED! What do they have to be depressed about? Their MILLIONIARES!!!!

I like Ellen. I don't like useless awards shows that show me what I most possibly will never have. I also hate the fact so many people are like "Oh my god, famous person!" I don't dig celebrities that make me want to be sick on that stupid carpet.
