Well, this sucks. I took my 7yo cousin last year and had a blast. The tiger part did leave me feeling bad for those animals but the show overall was great, place was packed as well. Running 2 tours at major arenas isn't cheap and their's isn't one that could be scaled down either.

The issue it sounds like they lost so much money when they had to remove the animal acts. I get feeling bad for the animals but at the same time people complaining so much about stuff these days. It's getting old that everything now someone gets offended by it and we have to "change" it which means end something. 146 yrs of entertainment now done and something we all at some point as a kid or taking kids to these shows. Can't pass it along.

The concept of the traveling circus has been an outdated mode of entertainment for at least half a century now.
With the advent of tv, movie theatres, professional sports, electricity, better transportation and other stuff. You don't have to wait a year for one of the few sources of entertainment to come to your town.

Sad to hear. I've never been to a circus let alone one of Ringling Brothers size. But it's shame that they're closing down. I've read about it, heard stories, and much like others I thought it would always be around until the end of time.

It was inevitable once they cracked down on the animals.
I went so many times as a kid. Loved it. It's insane if I ever have kids they'll never be able to go.

42 clowns are going to climb out of a Volkswagen Bug to file for unemployment at the local office.

When the accountant said they were having financial problems, he wasn't clowning around.

Don't get me wrong. There is stil a place for some circuses .. like the stunt shows, acrobatics, and even pro wrestling if you think about it.
But the form that involves putting up giant tents, clowns, and freak shows. Well they are gone, society has moved on and evolved to find new forms of entertainment. It's gone the way of gladiatorial sports, early pro wrestling (the ones with 3 hour plus shoot fights), those creepy early puppet shows.
It was great when they done away with the cruel animal shows. But it was obsolete even when they still had them.

Sad, I remember going when I was little. Same here, way back when I still lived in Cali. I still remember my glow in the dark shirt I got.

I agree with it, but I would hope that people at least understand it. Elephants plain shouldn't be transported via semis most of the year.

Never been to a Ringling Brothers show, just a handful of Moolah Shrine Circuses when I was a kid.
I'm torn- on one hand it's sad to see such an iconic institution closing its doors, but I'm also happy the animals won't be mistreated anymore.

Sad to hear, I'm sure some are happy, like the animal rights groups, and I don't know, and I don't wanna know what kinda stuff went on, BUT if they're going to crack down on that, then the Kentucky derby should be next

Even as a child I never liked the circus. Because honestly does going to sit in a big tent that always vaguely smells like shit sound appealing? I think not.

Hoping this means the Bulls won't have to endure a long circus caused road trip next season.

I have a mental picture of sad jugglers, firebreathers, a strongman and a poodle lady being told they are all being laid off.
