Netflix kind of sucks for that. I went looking for horror movies back around Halloween and, for whatever reason, they had several remakes (Curse of Chucky, Wes Craven's New Nightmare, etc), but almost nothing for the originals outside of Jaws. Maybe they've updated since then, but I'm not sure.

However, I can't justify paying for Shudder since I barely watch Netflix or Hulu as it is. Right now I make due with my horror and suspense by watching old Hitchcock episodes on Hulu. I've seen that they have some of his movies on Netflix or Hulu some of the time too, but they disappear soon enough or are the ones I've already seen a million times (Rear Window, Psycho, etc.).

If you have a Roku box/stick, the Grindhouse channel has lots of 70s/80s horror (including the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
