...the one opponent or team that always had the other dominant team/player number. This is referencing Paul Heyman's promo of last night that every great wrestler has always that one opponent that always had there number like how Hogan always had Andre The Giant's number or Brock Lesnar always had The Undertakers number.
For an example: Tom Brady and The New England Patriots but...Eli Manning and The New York Giants.

I don't think there's ever been a greater nemesis to the New York Yankees in recent times than David Ortiz. Ortiz was a good enough player on his own, but even when he was having rougher seasons, he always made the Yankees pay.

Sharapova and Serena Williams. I don't think Maria has beaten her since 2004.

Until last week, Nadal pretty much had Federer's number.
What Eli did to he Pats is just ridiculous. It's SO hard to put the Pats away. They're like a goddamn horror movie monster. But twice, he's just stuck it on 'em at the end of the game.

Brett Farve was the man...until he played the Dallas Cowboys.
(Not always, but even to this day I can't watch Green Bay play them. Too nerve-wracking.)

Discounting the 2013 NBA Finals (and even then, the GREATEST shot in FINALS history had to happen to continue the series), the Spurs own LeBron James

I really think the Utah Jazz would have been a true NBA multi-ring dynasty if it wasn't for Jordan. Then the Rockets stepped into that spot and lucked out that Jordan decided(or was forced, whatever you wish to believe) to go play baseball.

I also forgot to mention but in the 80's. Boston and Philadelphia often dominated the Eastern Conference and assembled some truly great teams that should of won a Stanley Cup or two. But Edmonton or Montreal (as an underdog) always got in the way.

The Brooklyn Dodgers dominated the National League from 1941-56, winning 7 pennants. But they only won one World Series, because they (with the exception of 1955) could not get past the Yankees.

Then the Rockets stepped into that spot and lucked out that Jordan decided(or was forced, whatever you wish to believe) to go play baseball. We can really say that for a whole bunch of NBA teams during the Jordan era, I suppose. Felt like every single year the Knicks would face the Bulls in the conference semis and every time they'd get Jordan'd. For a good while during the mid-to-late 00s, the New Jersey Devils would put together teams that were at or near the top of the Atlantic (now Metro) division, but God forbid they ran into the Carolina Hurricanes in an early playoff round. I would say that the Mets could've won a lot more between '98 and '01 if the Chipper Jones hadn't been on the Braves, but I can't reasonably argue that the Mets were a consistently better team than the Braves during that era, anyway. Besides, on the rare occasions the Mets DID neutralize Chipper, suddenly Brian Jordan or Javy Lopez would ruin everything. ...Bunch of jerks.

The Lakers were good in the 60's BUT the Celtics owned them every time they met in the Finals.
The Habs ALWAYS beating the Bruins in the playoffs between 1944 and 1987.

Not quite dominant, but really interesting and worth mentioning. The 99 Jacksonville Jaguars were 14-2 in the regular season and beat the Dolphins in the playoffs by 55. They then lost to the Titans, who were responsible for their 2 regular season losses also. So 14-0 against everyone else, 0-3 against Tennessee.

They went 24-2 and missed the tournament because, 1) The two losses were to UCLA, and, 2) Only conference champions received bids then, which UCLA got going 14-0 in Pac-8 play. (Fun notes: UCLA one loss was to Notre Dame in mid-January. Their next game was a win against UC-Santa Barbara, which started their 88-game winning streak.)
