I don't think there's ever been a greater nemesis to the New York Yankees in recent times than David Ortiz. Ortiz was a good enough player on his own, but even when he was having rougher seasons, he always made the Yankees pay. Conversely, I always felt that way about Jeter. I was *terrified* of him Jeter, career: .310/.377/.440 Jeter against Boston: .291/.357/.397 Think this one was just a myth here. Also, conversely, Manny Ramirez owned the Yankees to a far greater degree than David Ortiz did.

Tricky stat because Boston was a playoff calibre team the majority of his career so in theory most of his at bats against Boston would have been against better pitching then the median team he played during a season.

Yeah but his numbers were worse against Boston than any other AL team.

I got one. Randy Johnson when he was in AZ dominate pitcher as well all know. Some reason when he faced the Cardinals in the 98 and 99 seasons the Cardinals had his number when they started pitcher Jose Jimenez who had a no hitter against him and like a one hitter the next time out. Jose any other time wasn't anything special 3 and 0 in 98 and in 99 was 5 and 14. Left to COL and didn't do bad but not great until his last two seasons there where he went down hill fast.
