This saddens me. Bray is so talented, and has so much ability, and is in a World Title feud going into Mania that feels meaningless.
It could have (should have) been for Bray vs D-Bry three years ago, but they felt like they needed to go with Orton in the main event
He puts 40% in, and it's still good enough to be a really good match, but that is not good enough this time.
Orton still comes out to his own music, is cutting promo's that he does not care about, and unlike when Daniel Bryan joined, he's not even wearing Wyatt garb at all.
Bryan joining and Orton joining are practically the same feud, but the difference is completely in the effort of the two.
Honestly, if Orton does not really want to be a professional wrestler, then why keep doing it? Or at least, why keep pushing him??? Sure he is very talented, but 90% is willing to put in better matches and effort for feuds.

I actually think Orton's been doing his best work in a long time as a member of the Wyatts. He and Bray click well as partners and while Orton hasn't changed his gear or music, he has gotten an overall darker sort of presentation and is playing the character a lot differently than he had in the past. Really if anything I'd rather they stay together than break up because they're a great team.
And really for someone with his resume it's commendable that he seems completely on board with playing himself as completely subservient to someone who until a couple weeks ago really had no meaningful accolades at all.

It got TWO likes. More than enough to start a thread That is double the likes I have ever got Can't argue with that. I'm with Lizuka here. In my opinion, Orton is killing it right now and I find the storyline to be compelling. Orton has always been more about subtle character work (well, "subtle" as wrestling goes). He will never be a guy who spouts catchphrases or some shit, he just goes out there and plays his role in an understated manner. Watch his body language, there's no wasted movement. This obviously doesn't work for a lot of people and it sure as hell doesn't work all the time, but Smackdown's writers seem to have found a way to utilize him effectively. And in the ring? Orton MADE Harper at Elimination Chamber. He might even make Wyatt.

Think Orton has been alright since he came back from injury really, the time off did him good. Not a guy that I want to see winning the WWE Title at WMania any more but still with a lot to offer in other areas as evidence by his work with the Wyatt's and American Alpha.

Orton at 40% is still better than Bray Wyatt in the ring.

Personally I've been really enjoying his work as of late. I do wish he at least came out to the acoustic version of Voices.

Heavily disagree, I enjoy watching him in this current Wyatt storyline alot more than at any point in the past 7,8 years

Orton with Wyatt is the most interesting he's been since he was bitching out Rhodes and Dibiase.

This is the most I've enjoyed Orton for years. I'm going to enjoy it whilst it lasts since I know he'll become boring again when it's over.

How could you even tell?
"Oh, his resthold looks a little loose." "He's slightly more monotone than usual."

He's doing better now than he was in October, when week-by-week there'd be more stupid supernatural bits (Kane vanishes from the face of the Earth! Randy's face warps a little in a mirror! Luke Harper emerges from nowhere apparently!) and pointless matches with Kane involved.

I think the injuries he's accumulated over his 15 years in WWE have led him to work the style he works now. He's had multiple injuries related to the neck/shoulder/collarbone.

Orton could appropriate the Wyatts a bit more, although I'm fine without him looking like a cross fit Duke 'The Dumpster' Drosse and I'd agree it gives off a vibe of Orton returning to his bland babyface status when via a McMahon McGuffen he's re-inserted into the WM ME and wins.
Side tangent, I get the feeling they are trying to book this into a fatal fourway; Orton, AJ, Luke and Bray

Orton is making the Wyatts right now. His association with them put them on a whole different level not even considering the fact he meshed well with Bray as a unit Day one. This has been his best work in years and Bray and Luke are reaping the rewards.
A lot of guys with his resume would not bow down and play servant for a dude who had no momentum.
Just because it looks like he doesn't put in Max effort doesn't mean he is not. Randy does not waste movements in the ring and everything is for a purpose. When he is on cruise control he's still very good but when he brings his A game he's on a different level

I like the way they're doing it with Orton. With Daniel Bryan, knowing that he was playing a long con to get revenge, it made him look stupid wearing the outfit and assumingly so immersed in the lie that he was going to Bray's compound and taking part in his weird homelife just to eventually hit a few wrestling moves on him at a later date when he's not expecting it. It got over because Bryan was way over at the time but the story itself was stupid.
With Orton you get the impression that if this is all a ruse at least it's all taking place at work. Orton is free to be himself outside of work hours, then he goes to work and plays along with Wyatt's garbage for the day, it doesn't seem like he's compromising himself too much to get to whatever the end-game is.
The only problem is I'm really hoping this isn't a ruse because he already technically lost his title match now because of his possibly fake allegiance to Bray, so he looks like a guy whose plan went to shit now. I'm hoping they don't play this out like it was all some convoluted string of events that went 100% to plan because it wouldn't be believable now.

I think he's good. I laughed at the look he was giving Bray at the end of Smackdown while Bray's back was turned to him. With Seth out of commission right now, this is the feud I'm most interested in leading to Wrestlemania.

The difference is Orton's character and chemistry works much better with Bray than it does Bryan. I always seen it as Orton having the voices in his head and Bray is the only one that understands it and brings peace in Orton's eyes. Randy is not right in the head and Bray is the remedy for it. With Bryan, he's too much of a babyface for it to not be unbelievable.
I think Orton is doing some of his best work right now and it's a much needed change up from what he was doing. No one wanted Bryan to change what he was doing, so it just came off as very forced and awkward.
