Season
What were some other teams that had these long streaks?
The Pats haven't missed the playoffs since the 08 season
And the Braves were in the playoffs from the 95-05 seasons

The Utah Jazz had a streak of making the playoffs from 1984-2003
The Portland Trail Blazers made the playoffs from 1983-2003
The Montreal Canadiens missed the playoffs ONE time in 46 seasons from 1948-1994 (1970 on a tiebreaker)

In the NHL, The Red Wings are on a 25 year streak, which looks like it will end this season, matching the St Louis Blues streak.

Another fun trivia fact: Since they have been in the NBA (1976-77 season), the Spurs have only missed the playoffs 4 times. 83-84, 86-87, 88-89, and 96-97.

I remember when Detroit would be easy to find in the standings: look at the bottom of the Norris Division. This was during the 28 season playoff streak of the Blackhawks.

As Real actually means Royal in Spanish, it really should be Pleb Madrid's time to shine. (Actually, the other big team in Madrid, Atletico, shine pretty brightly)

St Helens rugby league team will match this if they make the playoffs this year. They've made the Super League playoffs for the past 19 consecutive seasons.
*The Super League playoff system has only been in place for 19 seasons so they actually have a 100% record of making the post-season

On the reverse end its highly likely the Edmonton Oilers will make it to the playoffs after a 11 season drought. If all hell breaks loose and they miss the playoffs this year they would break an NHL record of longest playoff drought of all time.
It's funny because the Red Wings currently have the longest active streak and 3rd longest of all time and are very likely to miss the playoffs this year. In fact the 4 most dominant teams of the 90's/early 2000's are in the bottom 5 in overall standings.

(Actually, the other big team in Madrid, Atletico, shine pretty brightly) Pleb Madrid is called Rayo Vallencio. And they'll never compete for anything besides relegation in that concrete slab.

Ends at 25 for the Red Wings And Oilers make it on the same day ending a 11 year drought. Two of the longest active hockey streaks ended on the same day
