Oh man keep Mike Goldberg away please. Not missing him at all. Aniktron 5000 makes me miss Goldie. I do wonder how Mauro would mesh with someone like Dominick Cruz on commentary. Honestly I don't mind Anik, him and Stann are pretty decent together I think. Dan Hardy and that other British fella are pretty good too so I'm not too concerned with UFC's commentary at the moment. To get on-topic, I liked Mauro and sucks to see him go, regardless of the reason.

I can imagine Cruz would just no-sell Mauro 90% of the time with his "whatever man" and its variants, and I bet it would make me chuckle almost every time.

I like Mike Goldberg but I wonder if he'd fit into wrestling, I have a feeling he would hate especially working for WWE but who knows. Still don't get why WWE pursues these unique broadcasters with their own vice when all they ever do is futz around with them.

On a serious note, WWE have reportedly reached out to Mike "GOATBerg" Goldberg to come in as a commentator. Oh please. Oh please, please, please. Oh yeah, because the last MMA announcer guy in WWE worked out so well. *looks at thread we're in* IIRC, they tried getting him 5 years ago or so, but he turned it down because he was still the head commentator for UFC. I.....don't think he's there anymore? so perhaps this time may work out...?

Not anywhere near confirmed, but from what I'm hearing personally, Mauro making the "not JBL" statement was part of the settlement.

After that, Dana White said Goldie's replacement is a guy they've been trying to get for years and that he wouldn't be arriving until the summer. That's what brought on the Mauro thing.

Not anywhere near confirmed, but from what I'm hearing personally, Mauro making the "not JBL" statement was part of the settlement. Which, if true, says a lot more about how much management are willing to let JBL get away with compared to trying to, you know, make a better working atmosphere for people. Not shocking but still goddamn sad.

...Is it bad I kind of want a wrestling answer to Alex Jones? As a helpful hint, the answer is yes. Always yes. I figured that was Vince russo.

Just hire Schiavone. Every Raw/Smackdown would be the greatest of all time.

Still don't get why WWE pursues these unique broadcasters with their own vice when all they ever do is futz around with them. It's what makes JBL's rant on Bring it to the Table so f***ing weird to me; why did they bother bringing Mauro in if they're going to crap on him for doing The Mauro Ranallo Schtick? It's like they think 'That guy is talented we want that guy' but expect that somehow his talent is going to mean he'll just be another WWE-style guy and get upset with him for not being one. They should just focus on growing their own commentary guys if they're going to try and genericize people until they lose what made them special, or complain that they aren't doing WWE-style commentary?

Didn't Mike Goldberg turn then down before? It's all a waste of time. They want Michael Cole clones. They may as well just stick with Tom Phillips. Mauro is more Michael Cole than Tom Phillips. In fact Tom Phillips is closest to Scott Sanford where he's the only announcer who isn't ready to shout with the top of his lungs while having a voice smooth as gravy. I like Mauro better but I like Tom Phillips. Him and Graves are the best duo pairing since JR and Heyman.

Look, I don't know if Mauro left because of JBL or something else. But damn, Dis Bidness can be pretty unsettling sometimes.
Nash in some shoot talked about some guy who was strapped to a table and had a pencil shoved in his rectum as a 'hazing incident'.
Nash's response to seeing this? "I'm leaving so I don't get deposed in a trial"
I seriously wonder if I'm okay being a lifelong fan anymore.
