There's no denying that WCW in 2000 was a mess. The first three months were brutal. Russo and Bischoff return in April and the show on some level is an entertaining train wreck.. That applies to Nitro and Thunder. However, throughout the year WCW had another show that neither man appeared to have much influence on. Actually, rumor is that Jimmy Hart was responsible for the booking of Saturday Night and Worldwide. Thus, I decided to choose a bunch of matches and a makes a series out of the show. Worldwide showcases a lot of younger guys that would appear on WCW Nitro and Thunder. It also highlights people you may have forgotten about and various independent names. Often times future TNA/Impact Wrestling stars would appear. I've enjoyed watching them and I hope you enjoy it, too. I remember one of the local channels aired this before WWF Jakked, back to back. It was funny to watch a WCW show right before a WWF show on the same channel. They aired rather late, too.

A Hail sighting. Very cool. From what I've seen of Hail (Which is a couple of WCW matches and a few XWF matches) he definitely had the look but couldn't offer much else. Died very young as well (Just 36) which is sad.

I prefer to remember WCW Worldwide as the recap show. Especially after Nash became Commissioner and they added a bunch of crap on the desk and a Kevin Nash cardboard cutout.
I remember David Flair & Crowbar vs. The Texas Outlaws. Probably the only match I actually remember for it's silly finish. This memory might be from 1999, but I remember Hacksaw Jim Duggan starting a USA chant and there being a pretty hot lady in the front.

PWI actually plugged WCW Saturday Night as one of the best shows on TV for purists in 1999 for much the same reason Worldwide worked...solid mid card matches and limited fluff and talking.

I loved Worldwide.Still remember some matches from '97 shows, like Adrian Bird vs Chavo Jr., Ciclope vs Cima Nobunaga and Greg Valentine vs pre-Gangrel David Heath.

Yeah, nobody was paying attention to it and overbooking it to shit like Nitro and Thunder, so it was actually pretty watchable.

SN and WW from 98 on became the pure oldschool jobber match show with limited angles/storylines (there were some though, f.e. Regal's exit in 2000 on WW), incl. the occasional big match main event (sth like NWO Konnan vs Barbarian or whatever)
In 2000 WW started featuring tons of new/young guys from the indies or the Powerplant like Chris Harris, Kwee-Wee or Horshu (Luther Reigns), some on jobbing only duty, some with decent undercard pushes

Worldwide in the UK on Channel 5 was an extremely surreal experience. It was months out of date, had frankly bizarre censorship and would have the commentators pretending they didn't know what would happen despite occasionally seeing themselves in the footage from months ago.

I love that they just kept the Thunder mats up with no explanation.

I love that they just kept the Thunder mats up with no explanation. At some point they actually put Worldwide on the canvas. Often times it was just taped before Thunder or Saturday Night.
