Monty Brown retiring in 2007 is one of wrestlings greatest losses. He looked amazing, charismatic and could go in the ring. I think he would have been given a very similar push to what Sheamus got a few years later and I'm very sad you've brought this up now OP.
I heard he'd been asked back by WWE relatively recently but still declined.

I loved the guy. TNA's first huge mistake was not giving him the belt. He was a star, decent worker, incredible promo and had the pouuuuuuuunce. Period.

Very overrated. He definitely had a good look and potential but his promos never blew me away and I don't feel he should have been the NWA World Heavyweight Champion in 2005 like most people do.
TNA should have built him up like their Goldberg. If he catches fire then push him to the moon.

Monty was fantastic, and if he didn't retire so early, people would have looked at him like they do at Cesaro now.

He can definitely talk and has some good power moves and I think if he had stuck around, I could see him as U.S Champion/IC Champion and maybe even winning the World/WWE Title in 2008-09.

He had tons of potential on top of being athletically gifted and really charismatic
That being said the reason he retired makes him a god damn saint
