Could face only six years for straight up killing a dude, wtf? He pleaded guilty to manslaughter. A lesser charge.

Not to get too political about the justice system, but how is "voluntary manslaughter" even a thing? I thought that was called, you know, murder?

"Voluntary manslaughter is the killing of a human being in which the offender had no prior intent to kill and acted during "the heat of passion", under circumstances that would cause a reasonable person to become emotionally or mentally disturbed." So like, self defence situations and stuff I guess.

Dude, he killed a guy with a f***ing sword. It was his apartment I believe, I'm not surprised that was the first thing to come to hand in the situation.

I never had understood this situation, weren't Ricardo and his gf hiding from the victim who stormed on their apartment? or he just appeared and Ricardo reaced badly? The victim, Joshua Sutter, and Ricardo Medina were roommates who shared that apartment. They had an argument and according to Medina, he and his girlfriend went into his bedroom and Sutter forced opened the door. According to autopsy reports released to news outlets, Sutter suffered 10 sharp force wounds, including injuries to the hand consistent with defensive wounds as well as the fatal stabbing into his abdomen.
