I'm probably misreading what he said but he calls working a 2 minute squash as working his ass off He worked his ass off to get back in shape to return. If you listen to the interview he goes on about how he still thinks he "looks like shit"! It's crazy. He says he hit his knee with a chainsaw(!) in July and then blew his meniscus out on his other knee in August last year and had 2 operations and worked himself into the ground to try and get big again because WWE called him 6 weeks later. I've listened to it now, it doesn't feel like he was 100% serious about being miserable. Also it was the way the article made it sound in regards to Survivor Series.

Yeah their headline is pretty clickbaity even though he did say it. The whole interview was pretty self depricating.

With guest appearances by Christian's slaves Oh my god saved! Especially with how sad I get with one of all my time favorites Christian not being in the HOF, this is perfect....

This proves how important context is. I listened to the interview on the E&C podcast last week and Goldberg is full of humor and very good natured.
Yes, he said he's miserable cause he's in PAIN getting into "Goldberg" shape at 50 years old. He's old and injured. He gets those painful deep massages so he doesn't tear every muscle in his body just doing his entrance. He's worked his ass off to get "the look" again (and, as was previously mentioned in this thread, the guy thinks he still looks like SHIT...Edge and Christian were dumbfounded at that statement).
Overall, this run is worth it for him as he's happy being a superhero to his kid and is also happy about having a good relationship with Vince this time around. Dads go to great lengths for their kids...this is Goldberg's.
Also, he slyly hinted that Mania won't be a quickie so yeah...he's in total "training sucks" mode.

Getting back into the shape you were in 15-20 years ago can't be fun, but it's the standard you've put upon on yourself after naming your price. Just have to deal with it until it's over.

"I go to the bathroom about 20 times intermittently throughout the day" Well that explains why his matches have been so short, dude needs to go dookie. Dude should probably get his prostate checked out.

Man yall just focus on buzzwords I guess. And don't train for anything cause yeah it's hard and makes you miserable.
He's clearly talking about the preparations making his daily life miserable in comparison to normal life.

If true, hell bro, your total in ring time is gonna be like 15 minutes this entire run. Suck it up.
I'm sure the staying in shape stuff IS hard given his age; but good grief.

f***ing making me feel the need to defend Goldberg, ought to ban ya for this shit.
It is far "3 minutes of work every few months" he is having to not only get back in some sort of ring shape on two bad knees but having to get to that superhuman shape he was in nearly two decades ago. Then there is the added pressure from himself to perform with his wife and kid watching for the first time. I f***ing hate that he was given this spot and is back on TV but he's still putting in work day in and day out to try and recreate 17 years ago to make some kids smile (and a few million dollars as well).

People are being a bit dense in here, if you actually look at the context he's saying these things in then it's all pretty understandable.
He's "miserable" at the intense workout and diet he's been on to get into phenomenal shape. He feels that's more important to the Goldberg character than having tremendous cardio so he can do a 15-20 minute match.
And again, he's "worked his ass off" to get into this kind of shape (and for a man of any age, he's in amazing condition). Obviously he could not claim with a straight face that he's worked his ass off inside the ring.
"Well he's making $10 million so he should suck it up" yeah and you're not allowed to moan about stubbing your toe because there's people starving to death. Come on....

So old' Whisker Biscuit is gonna sell out again? Is Brock gonna get another try out with the Vikings? Is Austin going to be announced as the special ref?

That article is very misleading. If you actually listen to the podcast he is speaking very much in a light hearted tone and joking about how mad his schedule has been just getting back in to and maintaining shape at his age.
Again, actually listen to the podcast... he sounds like he's having a lot of fun and speaks very highly of how everything is going in comparison to his first WWE stint.

I mean, he's always been up front about the business first mentality, but this seems harsh even for that. Even Brock Lesnar has said that he has fun in WWE this time around. I understand his age and the pain of working out, but what does he have to be miserable about? He's barely had ring time, he's getting paid a huge sum of money, and they made him champion and built WrestleMania around him which means MORE money. Yet, he's miserable. Compare this to Sting, who came in and had a blast putting in far more work at an older age, and put over a full time star in his final match. I'm not a Goldberg hater or anything, but this just reads really badly. Ignoring the fact that "what does he have to be miserable about?" is never good logic when it comes to mental health, from the interview it sounds like the dude is basically in discomfort and pain 24/7 as a result of this run. Living in pain is not fun, no matter what. Working with injuries would explain why he's been even wrestling even shorter matches than ever. Also holy f*** what's this about a chainsaw? Like, switched off obviously because he wouldn't have a leg otherwise, but what the hell happened there?

One of those things that needs context as others said. I'm pretty sure his tone of voice was light hearted.

With all this, unless Brock repeats history and at the 11th hour decides Wrestlemania will be his final match as well.... there's no way he won't be the babyface during this match.
