No spoilers from the recent tapings please.
So who is the next man to hold the NXT gold? The progression of champions over the past couple of years has been pretty predictable (from Neville to Zayn to Owens to Balor to Joe to Nakamura to Roode). However now it seems like there is a number of guys who could be next but there isn't one stand out contender right now. I'm not expecting Roode to lose the title until at least Brooklyn but surely he will be called up after Summerslam.

I'd honestly kinda dig if No Way Jose got it done, but who knows. Like you said, there are many optimal choices.

For the record I think it will be McIntyre, I included the not currently on the roster option due to all the rumors about guys like Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly coming in once their ROH contracts are up.

None of those sound appealing apart from Itami who I really hope does it but I can't see that happening.

I feel Itami and Ohno could be defenses but they're gonna fall short and get the Callup. I think it's McIntyre's.

Eh, until last week I was pretty sure Dillinger was gonna have a Bayley-esque "one last chance to make it" kinda deal, but now, I dunno. Any of the new/semi-new blood have a solid case, but have no idea who the crowd's gonna take to over the next few months.

Probably McIntyre, Ohno if he losses enough weight.

Seems like a waste for Itami to not get a title run

I would love to see someone whose not a former TNA, NJPW, or ROH alumni like No Way Jose win the NXT title but it'll be Drew of continuing the tradition of someone who was well known and decorated outside of WWE winning the belt. Been forever since relatively unknowns like Bo Dallas and Big E won the NXT title.

Been forever since relatively unknowns like Bo Dallas and Big E won the NXT title. The title has been held by guys with outside credibility for more of its history, including its initial champ Seth Rollins, than guys without I do think it is time for someone homegrown to get a run again. It would have been nice for Dillinger to get a brief run before leaving.

Hideo hopefully. It'd be a feel good story and finally break the mold of "Guy debuts and wins the title two Takeovers later."

Any of the new/semi-new blood have a solid case, but have no idea who the crowd's gonna take to over the next few months. I thought the same thing. The narrative was clearly written in the early feud with Roode before he won the title. I thought for sure Tye was going to be the one to dethrone him and have a short Sami Zayn type run with the belt.
