I would ban post season beards. I place I would put in place a rule that players must follow a more elaborate skin care routine each round of the playoffs. Also I would ban mullets.

I'd dye the ice blue and pipe Arnie's Mr Freeze lines through the PA system

I'd let the guys keep their mullets and beards but if the team wins it all: They both get shaved carefully and are properly preserved to be hung like trophies around the arena. *20 years from now* Yes son, that's Franky "The Scranton Savage"'s mullet from 2017 when the IceHogs won the Eastern Valley Conference Midseason Championship!

So regular season Lou? And Gretzky did the clean-shaven rule in response to The Dynasty Islanders who restarted the playoff beards. I think Gretzky only enforced it because he couldn't grow a beard and was very self conscious about it.

I would buy a team, make the mascot a platypus, and hire a former goon to beat the crap out of a rival's mascot just so I can see a giant platypus on the news getting taken away in handcuffs.

There use to be a minor league hockey team near me called the Lock Monsters. I went to who knows how many games as a kid and was even apart of the Lock Monster's kids club (best kids club name ever). They sadly got there name changed and moved somewhere NY by the NJ Devils. Thus spawning my hatred of the Devils.
If I bought a team. I would name it the Lock Monsters, and always charge 3.50.

We used to have the River City Otters (St. Louis area)UHL, A few Blues players played on the teams during the NHL Lockout in 04-05. Team folded in 06 because of low attendence, lack of attendance, issues with the lease at the Family Arena and a steep workmans comp bill. Honestly I think now days it would been more successful because Hockey popularity has sky rocketed in St. Louis. Now The Blues has always been a huge draw over the years but even bigger now, and I'm talking how the youth hockey and other places have jumped up big over the years. Look at the last NHL draft and how many from St. Louis was drafted. The Winter Classic success also helps. If managed right and have that Blues connection (That would be key) it could be a successful.
So I would do that and add a team here, and try make it fun for families with great value as in cheap ticket prices (Lowest I can make it but make money still), Try and do a lot of interacting with kids from a generic mascot that goes all over the arena and local area. Possible pre game activities. The main thing is make it fun and do what I can to put on a good on ice product with a successful team. Be cool if I could get a future NHL stud to develop his skills here. I think that could help draw interest.
