I love this song, but I don't think this song fits the Gears of War commercial at all. But that's just me. I think that's what makes the commercial so great. That song and that game don't really go together. But, when you hear that song with what's going on in the game played with it, it makes is so good.

Great song, very emotive. The lyrics are brilliantly dark and introspective. It was perfect for Donnie Darko. I like both versions, but I think the slower tempo of the cover suits the song more. I'm surprised at how minimal the Tears for Fears video is; pretty much just a guy behind a window and a bit of kooky dancing. While there is some subtle symbolism going on there, I seem to remember Tears for Fears having a penchant for more elaborate, highly surreal videos.

It doesn't feel complete without sound effects, I know someone will reply saying DUDE WITHOUT THE EFFECTS IT MAKES IT MORE EMOTIONAL AND COOL DUDE. It could use some work and I don't think no sound effects makes it better.

This song seemed really out of place in that Gears of War commerical.

Wow, I didn't know this existed. A hyper-extended version. Good find, Hulk. Ya....although it isn't the official extended version. Basically, the person took the latest trailer and turned it into a music video, and added extra video clips he/she found on GameTrailers(you can tell by how the graphics shift in quality sometimes).

I prefer the Tears For Fears version instead. Not trying to be "different" or anything. I always loved their vocals.

yeah it seemed kinda out of place in that commercial. doesn't really suit ANY video game really. made sense in Donnie Darko, but not a f***ing game where you're a huge supersoldier who shoots up alien bugs.
sorry, but pretentious crap like that always bugs me.

The tempo for the original seems a little too fast and the sound effects piss me off.

What next, a Metal Gear Solid game with Genesis singing Invisible Touch in the background?

"Mad World" is one of the darkest songs I've ever heard (not in the growling, evil kind of way. The emotional, depressing kind of way), and I'm hooked on it because of that. The melody is depressing enough, but when you actually listen to the words it's on a while different level of pessimism. Note: Not talking about the original version by Tears for Fears made way back in the 80s, but the cover song by Gary Jules that was made about 4 or 5 years ago. Even though it's been around since '01 or '02, I just heard it for the first time on the trailer for the game Gears of War the other day.. Here's the song in it's entirety, performed live: Gary Jules - Mad World (Live)And here's the crappy music video: Gary Jules - Mad WorldAnybody else like this song? Are you serious Tears for Fears wrote that song. I heard it and was haunted and inspired at the same time. Great song.
