In a month I'm to basic training and today my recruiter told me to start looking up info on bases. I've looked in to where there bases and some other demograpics they had. Those I couldnt really find any first hand stuff. So Is there any crapper that live near or ever lived or possibly live on one now. Might be able to help if there are any that you know suck.

I've been to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs once, for a football game (my junior college against AFA's junior varsity squad), but that was about it.

i live on ramstein airforce base.
and good luck in basic traning just remember they will say --"if you fail a locker/personal area inspection 3 times you get kicked out" "if you get get 3 341's pulled" (--meanign if you get in trouble 3 times-- a 341 is a little note they make about how you screwed up.... i got about 25.) you will get kicked out.
it's all bs. you have to actually want to get kicked out. you quickly learn there are only 2 ways to get kicked out; argue (trust me you will be too exausted to argue with anyone) or fail the final physical fitness test (50 pushups 50 situps and for guys a 1.5 mile run in 11 min.)---easy! only 3 people in my flight failed.
anyway as for ramstein it's very compact, easy to get around but you need a car to see what's beyond. any more speicfic question feel free to ask.
by the way where are you going for tec school? (please don't say Keesler, mississippi....)
Keesler mississippi is dead after hurricane kartina. it takes a cab ride to get anywhere worth going to. and i got raped there.... but that is besides the point (actually the fact i got raped goes towards the point; do not go out alone at night in keesler... it is not a nice place....)

Ramstein has a Chilli's. Oh, how I wish I were closer to it. Kudos on picking the right branch, you won't have to do much.

I lived at Ramstein, Aviano, Lakenheath and Incirlik in Europe and travelled through Mountain Home in Idaho. If you get a choice I would try to travel someplace you have never been and want to see; bases are all pretty comfortable.

Do NOT go to Minot AFB. I thought Lackland was awesome after basic. I got to be on Lackland for the first half of my tech school. Then I got to see the other side of the coin and go to Fort Gordon in GA for the second half. The only positive thing I can say about FT. Gordon is it was three hours from my home in Atlanta, so I'd sneak off almost every weekend when idiots didn't get the dorms in trouble.
Also, just remember that Basic is mind games. But, the last week of training, make sure there is nothing that can jack you up with your locker. A guy in my flight got sent back three weeks because he left 100 bucks in the pocket of his blues that were hanging in the locker. You have to secure that crap in the only drawer you get to lock. Other than that, after you get used to the mind games, it is a lot of fun. I enjoyed it.

Never been in the Airforce but I lived near and did business at davis-monthan air force base in Tucson Arizona. If you like it hot and dry, you'll like it there. I was an investment rep for a wall street firm and we serviced alot of military families. They always raved about davis monthan being better than most air force bases they have lived at. The 355th fighter Wing is based out of there. Because its close to the goldwater range, alot of training for pilots go on there from throughout the world. I've seen Isreali F-16's, British Jaguars (noisy as all hell) and evry airforce plane currently active. The base is also a storage place for mothballed planes. Also, the chop block for the B52 is there too.

I'm currently stationed at Frances E. Warren AFB, just outside of Cheyenne Wyoming. This place totally sucks.
I was trained at Vandenberg AFB, which is just outside of Lompoc, California. While there, I got stopped by Martin Sheen (I work on "the nukes"). That was fun...

We're living here at Beale AFB in Cali. It f***ing sucks up here. Small base, too many people, nothing for miles. Weather is either really hot or really cold. People in the surrounding areas are pretty bad, too. If you're in Intel or security, stay away from this one..

Camp Johnson in Colchester Vermont is all I got to suggest. It shared land with my college (and we actually leased the baseball field from their land) and it seems like a very good place to train/work at so long as you don't mind snow in winter and mud in spring.
I cut my teeth at the college newspaper by doing a few stories Camp Johnson, but my damn editors mostly wanted coverage on why the F-16's had to make so much noise over campus while circling to land (answer: it gets real loud mostly because of the perpetual cloud-cover). Colchester is next to Burlington VT where you're sure to find lots of good bars, restaurants, stores and parks, plus Lake Champlain. The pilots from Camp Johnson were the first ones to arrive in Manhattan on 9/11.
Then again, my father was a Tech Sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam era and trained in Utah... so I gotta say from what I heard that it's the best place to be in terms of desert scenery and proximity to Las Vegas. Plus it helps if you have 70's era mind-altering drugs, which can still be found around Burlington VT these days.

I used to do Medflight at Hanscom in Bedford, MA. Pretty tiny, but near Boston. I used to visit Pease up here in NH until it was closed and used for show.

Hmm, Air Force Bases I've been to...
Hickam AFB in Honolulu, Hawaii (awesome!), Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan (no thank you for the entire island), and I want to say the base we flew into to get to Korea was AF, but I'm not sure.
Oh, and I have been to Ramstein AFB in Germany (maybe I'll meet polexia someday), and several AFBs in England when visting my mother in law.
Not to ruffle any feather but quality of life:
Air Force > Navy > Marine Corps > Army
I cannot vouch for the Coast Guard.
