I'm sorry but I don't quite believe this. As obsessed as Vince is with mainstream media coverage I can't picture them dicking Shaq around.

Shaq would have made a great monster + arrogant heel if he started wrestling in the 90s.

I can't buy them NOT wanting Shaq on the card but I CAN buy them having no idea what to do with him even though they, and this should be clarified for prosperity, booked the match a year in advance (on WWE.com/their YouTube channel but still). These are the same people who thought a Jon Stewart heel turn would get them amazing publicly so...

Shaq is pretty ingrained into the WWE system now though so maybe they're just blase about whether he shows up or he doesn't at this point. Once you catch the fish it's not as thrilling the third or fourth time. Maybe I have a bad grasp on this but I feel like Shaq vs. Big Show wouldn't have been worth much to people who weren't already gonna watch it anyways.

I buy it. They likely had feelers out, but never finalized anything till Shaq just moved on.
Only feel bad for Show. But it ain't Shaq's fault they didn'tgive Show somethin high profile

TBH I'm glad it didn't happen. I feel bad for Big Show because of all the hard work he did getting in shape for it. But did we really need to see Shaq blow his knees on live TV?

It is so unsurprising to me that WWE would dick around even the biggest celebrity willing to give them the time of day. It kind of fits the entire structure of how Vince approaches Wrestlemania to be "Let's have this thing in here because I think it would be a good idea" and then to have zero clue how to implement it, leading to a million different ideas and total indecision until finally at best it happens and falls totally flat.

I think it's a combo of both stories. The approach Shaq. They set up the match. Shaqs in shit shape, they try to move the match to a multi-man to hide his flab.

I absolutely buy it. WWE is notorious for this kind of shit, but being an outside-Celebrity, im sure Shaq felt like he was getting jerked around and said to hell with it.
Also I was morbidly curious about it. Just the disaster aspect of it. And, now im even more curious as to who would have been tagging with them on the 3-on-3.
