Wasn't Duggan V Vader at Starrcade 94 marketed as one third of a Triple Main Event? How does this headline anything?

I swear I heard this during a match between Rene Goulet & Salvatore Bellomo around 1985. I was gonna mention Sal. For some reason, Gorilla said this during a Sal match (possibly this one). I know I was a fan of the guy. (I liked the cartwheel spot.) And when Rene was getting pissed at the referee for insisting on checking his glove, Sal did the "lie down over the turnbuckle" bit HBK did years later. I'm sure Monsoon was too.

Monsoon probably made reference to the winner's share of the purse money too

The leg thing being such a sticking point was stupid. Sometimes just press all your weight on their shoulders or the time saved trying to catch someone dazed just making a quick cover vs taking the time to hook the leg while they have time to regroup for a second

Hitting a referee could "cost you some heavy dollars".
And yes, you're not getting a physique like Ted Arcidi waiting for the bus.

I was watching an episode of Oregon Wrestling Federation on YouTube the other day and I think I heard Johnny Eagle say that Every match is main event Material

He lightened up (Francis) since then, but he was so adamant about it at first. (Oh, my new answer is Rocky Johnson vs. Mr. Fuji. That's a main event anywhere...IN HELL!)

I seem to recall an episode of Prime Time, where a bout between Junkyard Dog and Jim Neidhart, wrestling single despite being one half of the tag team champions at the time, earining this moniker. One of the most popular wrestlers in the world in the early to mid 80's vs. one half of the world tag team champions? Ok, it's not gonna draw 93,000 people into the Silver Dome, but I could easily see it main eventing in a lot of towns.

Look at a lot of results from the smaller towns and this was typical of a C-Show. (Yeah, you'd also get a lot of shit, but seeing a match like this in comparison to what you just saw would be a blessing.)

Because it was for the company's 2nd most important title I actually really like that match. Duggan worked his ass off. It's a hard hitting hoss fight. There's always a place for that on any wrestling card IMO

Whilst it shouldn't be a main event of the biggest PPV of the year I could've seen it headlining a smaller PPV/Clash Of The Champions/TV so it's not that hard to imagine especially since Vader was a big deal for WCW in 1994.

I can't recall the opponent, but I'm sure I heard Gorilla use it during a Skinner match once. I hope he was joking, like when Brooklyn Brawler wrestled and Gorilla said that Brawler trained at the Terry Garvin wrestling school. I want to think if he was still here, he'd be causing trouble with things about JBL.
