Hopefully the earlier reports are wrong but media jumping on every story from any source to be "first" just dog piles bad information.
It's been a malfunctioning amp, a bomb and now gas filled balloons. One dead, 20 dead thirty dead.
Reporting the real story first should be valued more than positing the rumors first.

Embed not working on mobile, what's the tweet say? The video is from a dashcam on a parked car. You can see a light in the distance and an explosion type sound.

Yeah there's a tonne of misinfo floating around. I understand the panic response but really wish people would assume nothing, wait for confirmation, and let the police + other emergency services do their job.

It's a worrying and dangerous side effect of social media culture and the state of mass media in the world as a whole. People want to be the first to report things, no matter how inaccurate or flat out wrong it may be, because being first gets the most eyeballs. And that's what matters more than being right and responsible. Also, the balloons thing is either a really dangerous and dumb oversight by the production people or as you Brits might say, utter bollocks.

A bomb disposal unit has been seen going into the arena.
That's from a Guardian journalist btw so not some random Twitter person.

Current things that seem confirmed
- fatalities and injures (no number given for either) - explosion in the foyer - bomb disposal unit on the scene
pretty much the other things like balloons have not really come from a credible source

Really hope this isn't Terrorism,
Having been to many gigs in the past I know Security sometimes can feel even more stricter than some Airports sometime.
Shitty situation whatever way you look at it.
No doubt Isis will claim responsibility whatever the result.
Sorry to those that lost their lives.

Sadly, for every person that is concerned for the safety and well-being for all of those there, there's also some asshole who takes it upon themselves to troll people for shits and giggles during a tragedy such as this.

And now I'm freaking out because I have 4 friends who go to Manchester University and at least 2 of them would go to this.

If it was actually gas-filled balloons that did this, thats like something The Joker would do.

And now I'm freaking out because I have 4 friends who go to Manchester University and at least 2 of them would go to this. I know the feeling, Manchester is a close knit city, a close friend almost went to this and I know about a dozen more who may well have done. Seeing Printworks and the surrounding areas that I love and take for granted daily on the news is scary.
