Ah yeah that was a good one. My favorite Marvel movies are: 1.) Spider Man 2 2.) Iron Man 3.) Winter Soldier 4.) The Avengers 5.) X Men First Class

I was just flipping through my old comics (early 90s) and Stan Lee had a column occasionally called Stan's Soapbox. He would mention moving from New York to LA to focus on Marvel's animation and film projects.
The one column I read had him mentioning working on the new Spider-Man cartoon, but also the live action X-Men, Black Panther, and Hulk movies. This was in a Spider-Man comic from 1994. Only took another decade or two.

I actually find this to be the best Spider-man movie thus far Same. A lot of people prefer Spider-Man 2, but I think Dafoe was way better than Molina. I also hated how Raimi completely destroyed the Otto Octavius character and turned him into this friendly mentor as opposed to the arrogant mama's boy from the books.

Such a big deal. Especially at the time. People thought the "spider man curse" was still prevalent...not too mention it really springboarded comic book movies after X-Men...
I did like Spider-Man II more, which to me, holds up to today

Watched some of this earlier this morning. Simmons really was the best Jameson.
I remember when the news broke that this became the first movie to earn $100m in one weekend. Nowadays $100m+ opening weekend is expected for Summer blockbusters.

I remember SmackDown Shut Your Mouth having an entrance that was certainly inspired by the movie, as well as custom CAW parts to basically let you make a Spider-Man CAW. Good times.

Speaking of the third movie there is a new cut out
One of the scenes they took out is the butler one where Harry learns the truth

Call it due to my love of snarky 90s cartoon Spider-Man, but I just never got into the Raimi films. They're very silver age in tone, and of all the villains, Franco performance as Harry was the only one I ever really was interested in. Defoe is too hammy to be intimidating, Molina's Doc Ock is hampered by the sentient tentacles plot point, and Sandman just feels underwritten.
the less said about Venom, the better.

Honestly the Silver Age comparison is probably exactly why I don't like 1 and think 2 is while decent super overrated. Silver Age just isn't remotely my thing.
