Lock the old man up, he just killed such a sure thing so dead that this entire feud could be entered into evidence in a power of attorney hearing.

She's been on the main roster less than a year and already won the Women's Championship. She has plenty of time to recover. Yes, tonight didn't go well, but it's hardly a career-killing moment.

YOU MADE EOE CRITICISE YOU WWE! That's how bad you've bungled this girl. I think it's this, Adam Rose cutting promos about poop and the Rumble aftermath of 2014 and that's about it. There's gotta be a few more instances in there even from you.
Like Old Day...

Oh right, I'm on record about that when I wrote the Snowcones. There's probably other things through that, as well.

The booking was all over the place, she says in one breath that she was watching old tapes of Sandman/Dreamer to get ready for the match and then talks about not wanting to hurt anyone, I'm like which is it? If it's the latter, then her character shouldn't be at an event called Extreme Rules.

Never say never, man. But even I was like... The hell WAS that? And you know how much it takes for me to say that kind of thing. There's being a good babyface, and there's being so sickly sweet that you can't even bring yourself to use a weapon in a match where you're allowed to use it. Come back to us when you're willing to woman up a bit, sweetheart. I think it was more like she spent too much time taunting Bliss with the kendo stick rather than being unwilling to use it. She took too long, Bliss took advantage and Bayley never got another shot with it. Still, I think she'll be fine. The WWE sees her as one of the stars of the Women's division. 1. She wasn't taunting, she was unsure, and that's how it came off. Even so she wasted too much time and looked like a f***ing idiot regardless and that was terrible booking.
2. If they see her as a future star they have a funny way of showing it after that disaster. That was a glorified squash with absolutely zero recovery, she lost, Bliss was proven right. She got completely cut at the knees.

a couple of ways that this can go:
1) Bayley snaps on Raw and wrecks shop for two weeks before losing and being forgotten about 2) She gets a half-assed Wonder Woman gimmick 3) She disappears for a while and comes back as Cactus Bayley 4) She has a rematch with Alexa on Raw and randomly wins for no reason 5) Nothing is mentioned of it while the next challenger cycles in for a few weeks until it's Bayley's turn again 6) She gets some training from Roman like Apollo in Rocky 3 and destroys everyone
Anything can happen in the WWE!

I mean Sasha's a Three Time Champ in less than a year and Charlotte's what a Four Time Champ? I don't count title wins in this division, on RAW anyway, as a statement that your career is safe.
I don't know if its a career killing moment, it's more in that sense a "Look how much they've screwed her up in under a year" moment. And a lot of people on this board knew it would happen...

I've said this before, but Bayley's persona has a limited shelf-life.
It worked on NXT, because the end goal was to to prove she belonged by winning the women's championship, and then get called up. On Raw, she got to start the story again. She was told she didn't belong again, and she overcame the odds again to win the title again, she won at Wrestlemania. She's ticked off everything she needs to have achieved in order to belong - with very few setbacks, in terms of the main roster. In computer game terms, she's beaten the final boss, and completed the game 100%. Once she loses the title, she becomes just another wrestler, but while she has this character, she can't be just another wrestler. It didn't happen in NXT because she lost the title, then got called up.
The character has to change, not a little bit, but a lot. A complete reinvention - and the only way that can happen is via a heel turn. Tonight should be the beginning of that, otherwise, Bayley is going to get very stale, very quick.

Why is it that the most obvious booking choice is the hardest for them to pull off?
Seriously I wanna know how it's so difficult for them to bungle something that a five year old could pull off.

She needs to get far, far away from Vince booking her as a simpleton child character.

I didn't think it was possible but this Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss has surpassed Orton vs. Wyatt as the worst feud of 2017. At least Orton burning a corpse was such a WTF moment and over the top cheese. This has nothing of value

Vince doesn't get her. In NXT she was the every girl, not afraid to fight. On Raw she is a mentally handicapped fan. Until the old man is gone or she is on SDL she's screwed. Pretty much. Autistic Girl Bayley is here to stay, unfortunately. She's been here all along. That's been her entire character arc dating back to NXT: nice, dorky/autistic girl who finishes last, finally cowboys up and gets enough of a mean streak to win the big one after being mean-girled enough by her rival. The truth is, she hasn't been over on the main roster. Not at first, not now. The boos were refreshing because it's better than the crickets she was getting. She simply doesn't translate, doesn't project, and lacks the charisma to break through. It's like taking a band from your local club or an actor from your community theater who is really popular at that level and putting them in a big stadium concert and finding out they weren't ready for that. That's how she seems to me. I don't think this is "creative screwed it up" as much as "she just doesn't (at this stage anyway) have anything that gets over at the big-stage level."

I reiterate... Honestly it's amazing how much they've thoroughly bungled Bayley. In particular this Alexa feud has basically made her look completely awful, because the entire thing is Alexa endlessly ranting about how much she sucks and then beating her up in straight fights. Like, Bayley's main roster booking was bad to begin with but it's gotten so much worse lately.

I never said her championship protects her. What I meant was that she had it early in her career, which at least means someone behind the scenes wanted her around. And while she isn't being used as well as we'd like, she's not being ignored like Alicia Fox has been most of her time here. And the original question was whether she could recover. And my answer is yes. She is not being wished well in her future endeavors tomorrow and none of you are going to stop caring about her the day after that. She still has a job with the company and there is plenty of time for her to get the right angle and the right storyline and be booked well.

When Bayley mentioned watching the Dreamer/Sandman stuff tonight I was thinking of how much better the build to this would have been had they actually, you know, done that. As in vignettes of her training with those guys on the art of beating someone with the Singapore cane, or Raven getting her to wear the seedy jean shorts and the grunge shirts, etc. Weird, wacky stuff to "toughen" her up.
But yeah, Bayley is totally buried after tonight. Stick a fork in her. They've sacrificed her to push someone like Bliss, who in so many ways is a jarring step back to the previous Bellas style crap in that division. I mean they could have her go totally insane and become a raving heel, but I tend to think they probably won't.

Yeah, honestly I pretty much hesitate to jump to, "Bayley's never, ever going to recover from this one, her career's dead, pack it in!" Same time though... Not like WWE's giving a lot of reason for confidence. All it'd take is one hot streak to salvage her, but I'm kind of struggling to think of one single time since Bayley got called up she was actually used well. Still, I don't think she's quite dead in the water or anything. I'm sure the thinking is really just stalling during a dead period to get to doing a rematch of her in Sasha in Brooklyn and decent chance that'll work out fine, just certainly could be less shit getting there.
