This seemed a little strange, I know Jeff came back in but he'd already left once so I would have thought his escape was still 'active', in which case the Hardys win the match. Is there previous to how the rules work in this situation?
Also the suspense was ruined by Cole immediately screaming "SHEAMUS AND CESARO WIN THE TAG TITLES!" when I'm guessing it was supposed to be really close with a couple of seconds of suspense. (Let things breathe!)

The rules said that both members had to be on the floor at the same time to win so when Jeff reentered the cage that negated his earlier escape.
I remember watching a similar match between the Steiner Brothers and Money Inc. Back in 1993 with the same rules. Members of both teams had to reenter multiple times because thier partner was getting double teamed.

I'm just going to point out that Tag Team cage matches should NEVER have escape rules, because it's f***ing stupid.
Going out first puts your partner at a disadvantage, so what's the point?

(Let things breathe!) Cole basically had to, the ref had already gestured that The Bar had won and called for the bell while Jeff's feet were still in the ring. There was no making that look less decisive than it was.

With all due respect I disagree. Escape rules add a interesting dynamic to the match. You have to escape to win but you risk exposing your partner to a double team if you do so you have time it right. It's far more interesting than simply trying for a pin.

I don't actually mind that dynamic; the idea of guys going back in to try and haul their teammate out can add an interesting psychology to the flow of the match, especially when you've got someone bonkers enough to do top-of-the-cage dives. The rule about both guys having to be out is the only way you can really get that kind of move and it not be a really stupid thing to do in the context of an escape-based match. It's also a way to make sure that you decisively get both guys in a team down long enough to escape, versus single escape or just a pin where that's not so much the case.

Even more stupid is when it's a 2 on 1 situation and one of the 2 decide to climb out but the guy by himself pulls him back in continuing the handicap match instead of 1 on 1.

I don't know why Matt didn't just go out the door once he hit back-to-back side effects, but wrestling reeks of P.I.S. so..

There was no making that look less decisive than it was. Yeah the Bell already rang before Jeff was out of the ring. So it would be stupid to try and play the WHO REALLY WON?! Card. it'd be the Luke Harper/AJ Styles battle Royale spot all over again. And yeah it was stated multiple times during the match that both members have to be on the floor for it to count.

I'd go as far as to say the inverse: I think that cage matches (singles, tag, whatever) should get rid of the pinfall/submission rules altogether and stick strictly to the escape rule as the exclusive way to win the match. If you want a pin/submission rule, then put a roof over the thing and make it a Hell in a Cell match. Otherwise, let's try to retain the gimmick part of these matches aside from "there's metal where the ropes usually are". Bring back the blue bars too, while we're at it! Gives the bigger guys the ability to actually climb/chase smaller opponents, and makes the escape possibilities far more probable (plus it just looks better than plain ole' chainlink).

You know I kinda want to see someone like Braun in a cage match now... just so they can reinforce the original meaning of the escape rules.
which was I'm going to beat the crap out of you until I feel like I'm finished with you... then I'm just gonna leave.

Then instead of climbing out or going thru the lame-ass door, Braun just punches a wall of the cage down and exits.

This is why the door needs to go in cage matches. It's by far the easiest way to win, so there's no reason to go for any other method of victory and makes anyone going over the top look like grade A morons.

f***ing Matt just needed to follow Sheamus out the door and the Hardy's win, instead he stopped him and got his ass kicked some more on the way to a loss. C'mon man!

What killed me was the awkward set-up for the close finish. They clearly wanted it to be more of a photo finish, but Cesaro and Sheamus were climbing down slower than molasses as Matt struggled to drag Jeff out.
Even worse was when the super tall Sheamus and Cesaro were just gingerly climbing down and were more than halfway down. "JUST LET GO OF THE CAGE" I was screaming.
Wrestling is stupid.

I hated the ending, it wasn't well co-ordinated and was a little embarrassing.

Was it Undertaker and Kane who just let someone leave then beat the shit out of the other guy 2v1? Summerslam 2001. They let Kanyon go so they could beat the hell out of DDP.
