To be honest it didn't bother me nearly as much as the countouts and DQ's being active in the submission match.

The rules said that both members had to be on the floor at the same time to win so when Jeff reentered the cage that negated his earlier escape. I remember watching a similar match between the Steiner Brothers and Money Inc. Back in 1993 with the same rules. Members of both teams had to reenter multiple times because thier partner was getting double teamed. That Steiners/Money Inc match also has one of my favorite finishes of all time: Rick and Dibiase are on the outside as IRS and Scotty try to escape. Rick ends up standing under IRS so he climbes down seated on Rick's shoulders and thus blocked from reaching the floor. Then Rick holds IRS there while Dibiase hammers Rick's midsection to try and get him to drop IRS to the floor. Rick holds on just long enough to allow Scott to escape before collapsing. Such an awesome finish. I saw it live as a kid and it's still burned in my memory.

Even the Hardyz have done it before but I believe word on that is Jeff fell out way before he was meant to and had more spots to do.

Remember Survivor Series 2001. Matt Hardy escaped the cage, Jeff was in a 2-1 situation, Dudleys brought a table in and then Jeff was close to escaping but he tried to Swanton D-Von through a table but missed and then got pinned in the ring all while Matt Hardy tried to climb back into the cage. Yeah all cage matches finishes are weird.
Then we had Kane & Undertaker vs DDP & Kanyon at Summerslam 2001 and Kanyon escaped to leave DDP to get destroyed by Taker & Kane for Taker to pin him in the cage.

SS01 as mentioned above and Unforgiven 2000. Both times Jeff had to then re-climb the cage so you'd have thought he'd have learnt by now.

That match killed my interest in the night. Especially stupid was Matt desperately trying to drag Sheamus back into the cage door when he could have just let him out and just followed him for the win.
So. Much. Stupid. (Even by wrestling standards)

Nothing is more exciting than an EXTREME(!!1!) match where the goal is to run away from your hated rival.
