How come Hulk Hogan's back suplex was also painful to him? I don't seem to recall other guys hurting their back or head when performing a back suplex, but Hogan would always seem to grab his head in pain afterwards.

The only way he would sell is to cause his pain himself!

I guess it's one of those things like whenever Rock would catch a back suplex, he would hold his head on the landing, not much after that.

RVD be killing himself with that 5 star frogsplash. Half the time he looks like he's about to barf his guts out.

Because when it comes crashing down, it hurts inside.

The only way he would sell is to cause his pain himself! Hogan? Hogan sold for just about everyone he ever worked with.

I remember people often complained on forums, "why would he do it if it hurts him so much in kayfabe?" well, how often did anyone kick out of it? If the move hurts him that much, it's got to be enough to keep down just about anybody he does it on, and it's considerable more versatile, in terms of where he can hit it from, than the split-legged moonsault, and neither the Van Damninator or Van Terminator are legal, so of course it'd be his finisher.

Yeah, I remember some complaining, but I always just saw it as him kinda going "Ok. This is what I HAVE to do to put this guy away." Sure, it hurt him, but it hurt THEM a lot more. And like you said, I don't remember too many people kicking out of it. It's probably one of, if not THE, most protected finishers ever. Not only was it rarely ever kicked out of, but that's true across ECW, WWE, and TNA.

It and the Clothesline from Hell have got to be up there, since they even put away people with them above them on the pecking order. Not sure if anyone kicked out of the 5 Star Frog Splash, and only person I recall kicking out of the latter was Batista, though I am sure Cena may have, too.

I think I remember people kicking out of the 5 star frogsplash but most of the time it was because it hurt RVD so much that it took him forever to actually get into a pinning position. That was my main issue with it. I can see your argument of hey take some pain to put this guy down. However, the amount he sold the pain bordered on ridiculous sometimes.

There's something wildly amusing about the idea of Hogan, in kayfabe, just not knowing how to do a back suplex properly, using it anyway and hurting himself every single time.

The weight of his giant inflated ego in his head crashing down to the mat always took a toll out of him.

Wasn't it usually a move he used to cut off the heel to start his comeback? Like he had been getting beat on for 10 minutes prior to hitting it. It's not like he busted it out two minutes into the match and knocked himself cold.
