I'll start off by saying I have not read the comic as a whole. Ive only seens bits and pieces, and reviews from guys like Linkara. That being said, what really irks me is this image of Cap using the tired old notion of the French being cowards. ![](http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/lestat74/CapUltimates.jpg) Considering Cap fought in ww2 and saw the French fight first hand, I really doubt he would say this. Sounds like something said by the history illetirate. Funny enough, when I was looking for this image, i stumbled on another interesting one. ![](https://iamnerdking.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/captain-america-france.jpg) Civil War, man. EDIT: Im aware the second image isnt from civil war.

It's from The Ultimates a really.....pointlessly "edgy" re-imagining of The Avengers. As far as I can recall, Cap never brings up France in any context in Civil War. Like...there are a LOT of flaws in that story without inventing them.

Yeah the image there doesn't have anything to do with Civil War or with canon Cap.
Ultimate Cap was kind of a dick.

Hulk just thought with his.
I guess regular cap is a dick now that they've made him evil, but that'll be over at some point.
Regardless, the A for France thing doesn't have anything to do with Civil War or regular Cap. It's not a good story, but that's not why.

Eh, there were some hits and misses. Weirdly, for someone who's a villain in the main universe, Pyro is a pretty chill dude. At least until Ultimates 3 which is......wrong.

The one thing that I will say bothered me about Civil War was, for the most part, the X-Men staying out of the conflict. They, or at least through the warnings of Rachel Summers and Kitty know where the whole idea of Superhuman Registrations lead to. Why were they, once again, for the most part, kind of like "Meh" when this whole deal began?
Now, I'll admit. I didn't read the X-Men crossover issues. Just the main story, but it really seemed really out of character for the mutants for not just straight out say "No" to the whole idea of the registration of all superhumans. I can accept the other stuff, even if for just the sake of the story, but I think that was really the beginning of the whole "F**k the X-Men" thing with Marvel.

Warren Ellis fired back in Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6d/Elsanextwave.jpeg) Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting did too, early in their run on Captain America. The second image in the original post was done by them for that express purpose.

Civil War was stupid because none of the heroes should have been willing to turn over their secret identities to the US Government, given the number of times super-villains had been able to surreptitiously seize control of all or part of it.

Short version, the X-Men were going through so much shit at the time Cyclops told both sides "I'm gonna say this once: We're not getting involved. STAY. THE F***. OFF MY LAWN."

it was Ultimates, not Civil War. either way it was written by Mark Millar and he's a colossal shitbird so him writing a character saying something profoundly ignorant and expecting the audience to like it is just par for the course.

Yeah the image there doesn't have anything to do with Civil War or with canon Cap. Ultimate Cap was kind of a dick. Agreed. And now there's speculation that the second Cap in Secret Empire may be him, which to me is just about par for the course for that miserable series.

Reminder: Civil War is ultimately what caused One More day to happen, at least as far as in-universe things go.
