So let’s talk about this. As many of you know, Bayley and Carmella are besties behind the scenes. You can go to youtube and find a bunch of their videos from their time on the road. At the time, everyone swore Bayley could be WWE’s next breakout star. Meanwhile, Carmella was green and sorta considered a Horsewoman tagalong. People were begging for Bayley to be called up during last year’s draft, and they were shocked that Carmella barely made the cut.
Flash forward to today, and something strange is happening. Bayley has been struggling lately and many people wonder if she even has a future with WWE. There’s no shortage of complaints about management either not understanding her character or actively trying to sabotage her. Meanwhile, Carmella seems to have improved and is slowly but surely becoming a highlight of her show. While one thread predicts doom for Bayley, another praises Carmella’s efforts.
What say you about these developments?

That when you give talented performers a role that they can sink their teeth into, they usually do well. It's really not a hard formula at all.
People are on Baron Corbin's dick like they were his zipper all because he was given a platform to look strong in multi-man matches where his weakness were hidden and cut promos with actual personality on Talking Smack. It happens all the time on here.

I'm not trying to be a smartass here, but what are we responding to in this thread? Just the fact that the way someone is booked affects how much we like them?

I'm surprised by Carmella, but not by Bayley. I wonder if Bayley needs to go back to NXT for more training (for lack of a better word), or if her character is that poorly written.

When you use a performer like they should be used, people respond well. When you fumble with smoeone and give them the most garbage material you possibly can, it leaves people doubting that they were ever as good as they seemed. Bayley gets given material that I don't think any reasonable argument can defend like demanding a cane on a pole match and then being "too nice" for violence, while Carmella is playing a big mouthed heel with an attitude and a giant ego. Which isn't to discount Carmella's talents, because she has definitely grown into her role and developed well in the past year to be able to rise up to the higher level she's at now, but if she had been given material as awful as what they've been giving with Bayley she would go from the most over and hated heel on Smackdown to the most loathed "get her off my f***ing screen" woman in the company.

In WWE, no one can truly predict the success of callups. Carmella was ice cold during her callup to the main roster. Couldn't buy a reaction from the crowd. Nikki Bella tried to put her over with no luck. But once she was paired with Ellsworth, her luck start to change. How she won MITB both times now made her one of the top heels in Smackdown. Bayley came in strong on Raw. Went against the Queen of the division, Charlotte. Ended her ppv win streak. But stalled even with the success. Once Alexa Bliss came to Raw, it freefalled because Bliss ether her on the mic. Bayley isn't dead in the water. She just needs to modify. By modify, stop being a sweet simpleton.

Stop writing Bayley like a 5 year old, and that's a good first step.

The question I wonder is: has there been a main-roster Bayley promo where she's actually had good material and the only issue has been the delivery? Its hard to think of any. I like Carmella, but I'm a little worried for where her crowd reactions are going to go without Ellsworth, they were already pretty quiet for her on SDL this week.
